Stayed at the hotel across the lake. I stay in the area frequently. Compared to the reviews I was semi disappointed. It seems like the happy hour is the reason to come. The lunch menu was pretty limited. I got the sashimi salad, but felt it was very overpriced for what you got. It was mainly iceberg lettuce. On the positive, the atmosphere is cool. They also honored the yelp check in coupons and the cheesecake was good.

Value: Awful. Eggs were not cold, so 0-stars not a fair review. $25 for two plates of two eggs, a total of six strips of cold bacon, and two cups of mediocre coffee. No potatoes, no toast w/ meal. Food: Sub-par. The weekend brunch menu (printed on paper, attached to a clipboard, not a huge problem to keep current) lists 3 egg dishes -- 2 eggs plus meat, a goat cheese and veggies omelet, or an egg- white and herbs omelet (see, I have it memorized). How about the goat cheese omelet with cheddar or jack instead of goat cheese? Nope, kitchen only has goat cheese or a mozzarella/American blend (yuck). Meat in the omelets (as served with plain eggs)? Nope, cannot substitute meat for veggies. OK, a large coffee with an add-shot of espresso? Nope, espresso machine is down during what looks like a multi-month remodel (despite a quarter of menu being devoted to expresso drinks). Side of rye toast? Nope, sliced wheat or gluten-free only. Fruit on the side instead of potatoes? No fruit (so much for the health food theory). Ambience: beautiful day in OC, so we asked for an outside table on the patio. We got a great downwind view of the construction crew's porta potty across a baking dish of empty, flat concrete. Service: our wait person was nice enough, but never wrote anything down (a bad sign IMHO). The table next to us (one of 3 occupied in a patio of maybe 20) waited for 30 minutes to be brought menus, then got up and left without ever seeing him. Summary: Denny's would have been less bad, and I HATE Denny's.

Total chick bar, meaning only chicks would come here. Bar stools are very uncomfortable. Not very spacious either. Hard to find. If you're alright with all of the above then this place might be a nice bar to relax that's a strep higher than a dive bar.

Went into the lounge area and had a glass of wine and salad at the bar. Best Cobb I've ever had. Dressing very light, nice fresh chicken breast and the twist was kalamato olives. The bar staff very knowledgeable as I listened to requests from other customers. They have a nice patio area and lovely dinning room. Staying at the adjacent hotel I will be back!

Move over Charlie Palmer there is a new kid on the block! We came here on a fluke for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was excellent, the turkey was tender and juicy. And I probably had the best beef short ribs I've ever had in my life. The service was above and beyond. I can't wait to try their regular menu. Very glad I stumbled upon this gem.

This was a real find in the OC. The ambience was W-Hotel-esqe: sleek, modern, hip, fun. We're pretty spoiled food and cocktail-wise being from the SF Bay Area, but Silver Trumpet delivered. We came for pre-dinner drinks and an appetizer. The cocktails were very good (made by Sasha, whom we later met). I ordered a cucumber mash gin martini, and Steve ordered a coconut-infused gin cocktail. Good stuff (huge, tasty, and potent!). We nibbled on yum-yum grilled calamari and saw some amazing-looking, tall sliders go by (2.50 each during Happy Hour). Our waitress Brandi helped us squeak in under the Happy Hour special time, and was sweet and helpful all around. Towards the end of our stay, Jeremy (manager?) popped by to ask how everything was and filled us in on the changes Silver Trumpet is making to attract customers. Nice! We'll definitely go again if we're in the area!

Very mediocre! Price points match presentation but not taste. Risotto was like rice soup. My standards are high so....

My friend treat us to dinner here and it was a nice treat. I selected the restaurant because of what's on its website: "The Silver Trumpet proudly supports local and sustainable farmers, ranchers and fishermen; and designs its menu around food that is in season. Our seafood is wild-caught and all poultry, beef and lamb is free range." The menu changes so the menu on the website was not what was offered that night so we were a bit disappointed. However, the food was good. The food portion is small for the price. The waiter suggested that we ordered a side order and we were glad we did. The Cheddar Beer Soup is different and excellent. If you are looking for a VERY QUIET evening on a Friday night, then this is the place to go. As for parking, self park in the Wyndham Hotel and get validated. If you valet, no validation.

Service was odd; there was no one at the hostess stand so there was a bit of waiting around and trying to catch someone's attention. The restaurant is beautiful but seemed a little understaffed. THE GOOD: *crab cake ratatouille - DELICIOUS! big whole chunks of crab meat on top of ratatouille *short ribs and ravioli - DELICIOUS! a good-sized piece of short rib, perfectly cooked with three big raviolis *steak medallions - DELICIOUS! the meat was not in medallion-shapes but ore like one steak cut into three large sections. Came with a potato "lasagna" paper-thin potato slices layered together with some cheese on top. *Beignets- YUMMY! Lovely, light and delicate beignets with a sprinkle of powered sugar, warm apple pie filling in the middle, served with a raspberry and vanilla sauce. THE BAD: We both had bad stomach aches and diarrhea afterwards about 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant. My gastrointestinal distress was particularly explosive. I almost did not make it to the toilet! OVERALL: OK service, delicious food, but I'm not sure if we will ever go back to the restaurant. This is the first time in a looooong time I had ever had a restaurant meal make me ill. Kind of put me off eating at restaurants for a while. If you enjoy living dangerously, give the Silver Trumpet a try! Maybe you will luck out and not get sick :)

I really wanted to like this place in spite of the other reviewers. It's really hip looking and in a great location between the Marriott and the Wyndam overlooking a lovely man-made pond. Weather was perfect and we sat outside. Everything is wonderful so far. So now we order. First was a bottle of wine. Then she came back and we ordered food. The boys were starving (they had not eaten since breakfast) so we ordered the ceviche to come first. We all ordered salads and I specifically asked if the crab cakes had bell peppers (I'm allergic) and our waitress said she will triple check. She came back and said no!!! Yay! Now we wait, and wait - no wine, no ceviche. I was ready to go to the bar and just grab the bottle, but finally the wine and the salads arrived together. The waitress asked how the ceviche was.....explained we never got it. She aplogized, and I told her to cancel it. (It still came). Out entrees arrived and my crab cakes came on a bed of red bell peppers! And the side of curried cauliflower came barely cooked. So disappointing. I asked the waitress to remove from the bill- crab cakes, cauliflower and ceviche. The bill came and the crab cakes were still on there. Unfortunately at this point we just wanted to get out. Thank God I are my salad! I hope management reads this because you have a diamond in the rough, but you need a ton of polishing! Would not recommend at this point.

We went here after a concert at segerstrom, it was not that busy for a Friday at 7. The price point was great for the atmosphere and food was good. The service was good even though we had the new guy. But...the food took sooooo long to come out and then the dessert took soo long too. Besides the wait it was good.

Really? Came here for lunch and this place was a disaster! I had high hopes based on the yelp reviews but was very disappointed. The place was moderately busy with a lunch crowd when we arrived so we thought we could enjoy a nice lunch - but we were wrong. My biggest issue was the lack of service and slow service. We ordered drinks and appetizers to start, which took so long that we never were able to order our main courses due to 70 min having past! Yup more than 1 hour there and only were able to get drinks and an appetizer, it was that slow. Also, I tried to order a soda and was told that the fountain was broken and that they did not have the champagne I wanted available. Needless to say our experience was ruined. We ended up having to grab lunch from a fast food joint since we were still starving but out of time. The place is pretty and seems to have potential, not sure what happened today. Sadly, yelp led me astray on this place.

I came here for my moms birthday, the food was excellent, and the service was spot on, I had the skirt steak and it was perfectly cooked and had a nice presentation, the prices are almost low for the level of service you get there, I will be back

First time to the Silver Trumpet- Ambience was good, food was pretty good ( medium rare filet was actually rare but I went with it), the service, however, was embarrassing! No one identified themselves, the person who took the order for a Pinot returned to the table with a Riesling. This was after had been annoyed by someone passing out cards that were a prix fixe ($40) menu that was mandatory. We waited forever for a drink order and after our food order was taken, all the courses came out at a rapid pace. When our desserts were served, we weren't offered coffee and had to flag down a staff person, which was difficult, since the main thoroughfare angled away from us but one time we were able to catch someone 's attention from a madly waving napkin in their peripheral vision(that didn't work when we wanted the check- one of us had to leave the table to get it). There was a woman in a blue & white dress and a fellow in a black jacket & black shirt who were walking around but only made eye contact with us when we were leaving(bar and restaurant managers?) this place is in desperate need of a good maitre d' and chef. Those were the people I feared and who kept me on my toes when I worked in food service. They also need a decent hostess- she doesn't need to wear a formal but at least a decent cocktail dress ( not that casual blue & white knit). The service at this place is horrendous and needs to improve!

Gorgeous Decor. I've been here a few times and each time the lunch was amazing. Rather quite during the day but that's always nice. I'd like to come back at night and have a drink in their super cute bar. See you soon Silver Trumpet!

Recently had the opportunity, a few times now, to frequent the, Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar. As some may not know, it is an extension of the Wyndham Hotel. We(our group) have been treated well, respectful and personally attended, by, Kenneth. He, along with others in the staff and management made our evening a hit. We've enjoyed both inside lounge seating/areas, as well as, the outdoor Zen area. Both are great and a nice way to relax after a day of work, or likewise on a weekend to unwind. Good service, clean bathrooms, sleek and classy interior, we will be back! Enjoy!

Went here the other day for happy hour with some friends. We sat down on these super interesting zebra chairs at the bar. The place has a really cool modern and luxurious look and feel. The food is sssooooooooo good!!!! Damn those honey habernero wings are legit! I'm usually pretty picky about my old fashions but the bartender made it perfectly. She was also very attentive and on top of things even though it got real busy. We are for sure coming back again maybe even making this our new hang out spot. Lots of pretty ladies come here. Hopefully Laura the bartender will be there to make my old fashions oh so perfectly.

This review is for the bar only. It is located outside of the Wyndham hotel lobby. Very convenient. I met a co worker for drinks before dinner and they were having happy hour specials on cocktails and wine. Our bartender was friendly and to the point. The drinks were pretty standard. The ambiance was upscale and the clientele was mainly business professional and random hotel guests. What bumps this place the extra star is the way the bartender handled the Yelp check in offer. It was 10% off the tab with the check in offer, but since it was happy hour he said the manager wouldn't honor it. There was no stipulation anywhere on the offer itself, but after a long day I was not in the mood to argue over this. I continued to be cordial and we ordered another round of drinks. When we got the tab he only charged us $10 total for two rounds of strong drinks. That redeemed the check in fiasco and earned the bartender huge props and a generous tip.

The fish tacos were great. The German chocolate cake that was ordered came out as chocolate cake which was OK but not what I wanted and I wasn't asked if that was OK first.

Had a wonderful experience dining there this evening! The seafood ceviche was absolutely amazing, as was the Salmon entree. I had chocolate cake for dessert and couldn't have been more delighted. Alexander, our server, was so wonderful and attentive. A really fantastic experience! I will definitely be back.

The 11 of us went there after the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer walk. There were plenty of tables available so it was not particularly crowded. I ordered Trumpeters omelette because it was the healthiest on the menu...it had goat cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes inside the omelette and potatoes as well as salad on the side. The potatoes were a bit cold but the omelette and salad were good. Because it took them a while to serve the food, they brought us croissants and danishes. I didn't eat them because they were greasy but my friends liked them. I asked the server to give me healthier bread and he recommended wheat, it was just hard watching everyone else eating while the food was taking forever. The wheat bread was good....fresh and seemingly homemade, but didn't come until the meal came. I tried my friend's fries and they were crispy and they tasted just right. Overall experience: Good! Would have given a 5 star if the service was faster.

First time here and very pleased with my choice to have dinner at the Silver Trumpet. Right across from the OC Performing Arts center it's a convenient place to dine before a play. Worked especially well for us, going to see a later jazz show at the Samueli. The menu is limited but had something for everyone. Salmon and halibut were prepared perfectly, fingerling potatoes, wild mushrooms, and creamed spinach were delicious. Complimented by attentive, quick, professional service all made for a really nice dinner. Airy, spacious, dining room with musical instrument decor at the entrance is a nice touch, get your mindset in the mood for the show.

Worst dinner ever!!! We were a table of 7. Two meals were undercooked to raw. 6 out of 7 drinks were made incorrectly. We had 5;30 pm reservations and got our dinners at 7! Finally the manager came out and said he had only been there 3 weeks and was trying to iron out the flaws. Poor thing. I will never go there again!

Came here before a show last night. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. $130.00 including tip for two people and left without eating anything but a couple pieces of bread and vodka. Ordered seafood ceviche to start. Beyond disgusting. It was basically soup, and they served it with the greasiest tortilla chips that tasted stale. Skirt steak for me, shrimp pasta for hubby, his shrimp was rubber, the pasta was mush, there was so much sauce and spices on my steak that it was like they were trying to hide the meat. We are not complainers at all so we didn't say anything but in my opinion a restaurant with good service would train their staff to notice if customers don't even touch their plate, they should be asked if something was wrong. They have way too much staff standing around doing nothing, yet we had to flag our waiter down to get another cocktail and then still had to wait 10 minutes. Bottom line: bad chef, bad food, bad service, bad restaurant, way too expensive, and would NEVER come again.

Enjoyed the lamb shank, but came with rice that had a little too much goat cheese. The desserts with a pear and some strawberry cream didn't work. For the price we paid, I expected a little more.

I dont care what kind of Groupon you have, this place is not worth it. It is run by employees with no supervision and it shows. What a mess of a place. We did have Groupon deal for a $120.00 dinner for two for $55.00 with the Groupon. We showed up at our reservation time and were told a table would be ready in a minute. We waited and waited and waited and finally went back to remind them we were here. Then they said we could pick a table (?) Whatever. Anyway, just then a customer started choking on his dinner. Made quite a scene in the restaurant. As were seated the couple next us sent back their dinners and said they had "had enough" said the restaurant could keep their Groupon because they were never coming back. They got up and walked out. We waited and waited and waited again. Finally a waiter came up and said we were not at one of his tables but he noticed we were waiting a really long time. Said he would get our server and be back in a minute. When he returned he said he would be our server anyway as the regular server for our table was unavailable (?). We ordered our dinner. We waited and waited for bread to nibble on but none came. I flagged down our waiter asked of the dinner included bread. He said "sure, but they have to make it" so it took about 30 minutes to get the bread (?). Finally our dinner came but they tried to serve us two dinners that we did not order. Eventually when our dinners did show up, they were not cold, but not hot either. Mildly sort of warm. Like they had been sitting for too long somewhere. Our dinners came with dessert but we waited and waited and waited some more for someone to take our dessert order. There were four or more waiters running aorund and a couple of bus boys and two hostesses and everyone was running around like crazy but they didnt seem to be able to get anything done. We were there about two hours at this point and just wanted to get the heck out of there. Finally the waiter came to take our dessert orders. We asked him if we could just get it "to go" and he said "sure". It took a quite a while but the server said it takes a while to make the desserts, so......... We never did finish our dinners. They didnt make us sick or anything, like the customer who choked earlier. But they werent very good dinners. We couldnt wait to "wake up from the nightmare" and get out of there. Bottom line: No way Jose!!!!

I went to this restaurant/bar for the first time last night. Loved the atmosphere. Great bar area; awesome patio, looking forward to brunching in the summer out there! The food is fantastic!! I'm a total foodie so I can get picky at times... I ordered a bunch of random dishes off their happy hour menu and loved every plate, and their happy hour prices are fair and on point. And for anyone living at 3400 Avenue of Arts this is a key location for us residents...it's just a quick walk over and you're next door! Also, Amanda is an awesome server; she was helpful and sweet, checked on us regularly and made my dining experience that much better! I can say that I will be a regular.

My friends and I went here for restaurant week and the problems started when we got there. We made reservations but the hostess still asked us whether we wanted inside or outside. We settled for outside since it seemed like an inconvenience to sit us at an empty booth inside. Apparently the booths were "reserved" but we never saw them used the whole night. It was finally given to a couple an hour and a half later when no one was taking it. The appetizer came out and was delicious but everything else was terrible. The braised short rib was supposed to have a balsamic glaze and the blue cheese mashed potatoes had no flavor at all. The meal overall was bland but the beignets had to be the worst. They were so hard I could barely stab them with my fork. My friend ordered a glass of wine and no one ever brought it out. We finally had to go ask for it and they didn't comp us for it. Our server was the only good thing about our meal. We will not be back to waste money here.

I received a gift certificate for this place so it was a free ride. What I experienced though was pleasantly surprising. It was delicious from start to finish and the service was beyond compare. I had a specialty salad of theirs that was out of this world (I know, a salad) . If anyone wants to have an impressive date ... this is the place. The location, the view of the greenbelt with fountains and the decorative trumpet atmosphere was terrific! I will go there again very soon --- The waiter told us that the chef is very experienced in culinary masterpieces and they are lucky to have him.

Group of us went for dinner before the OC Preforming Arts show. On web site, states prixe fixe menu but when we asked what was on this special menu, were informed it had only been offered for one of the shows. Take it off your web site then! Had the Seafood starter and 2 of the 3 clams,1of 3 mussels, were not opened. Very disappointing. Very surprised such a nice restaurant would serve unopened clams. For the price, all 6 pieces should be edible. My scallops were perfect and the Halibut was good. Loved the setting, loved the outdoor area and greatly appreciated the free parking with dinner and a show. Would go back again!

We had brunch here and the food was really bad, and old. It was extremely slow but still service was bad. Nothing about our food was right. Even the Oj wasn't fresh and they lied to our faces. So disappointing, never will come back here.

Called on Sunday April 29th to get a brunch reservation for my husband's birthday, got their voicemail "if your calling to make a reservation leave your name and number and we will call you back". Nothing on their voicemail stated they were closed for renovations! So we headed out to them, an hour plus ride. We get there and as we approach the door there is a gentleman coming out with chairs, we were a bit confused and thought there might be a different entrance, we inquire and are told "we don't open until dinner." No signs, no apology, nothing he just walked away. If your website states your open for brunch and you aren't your voicemail should state you are under renovations! Hmmm let's see if they ever return my call from their voicemail!

Came here today for brunch with Mum - a major disappointment!!! Great location on the lake, and directly opposite the performing arts center, so we had high hopes. The main dining room was closed in preparation for an afternoon wedding reception. This didn't deter us, we wanted outside dining anyway. We were one of two tables seated on the patio, so while sorry to see it not as busy as it should have been (it was a beautiful So Cal day), we were somewhat pleased with the privacy. Apparently they only serve brunch on Saturdays, so we took advantage and ordered a mimosa each. Twenty minutes later, the mimosa arrived. By this time the other table had left, making us now the only table. Reluctantly we ordered our meals, knowing that if they'd taken that long to bring our drinks, how long might a meal take (we had an afternoon of shopping planned). Mum ordered the smoked salmon bagel and I had the local halibut. Almost a half hour later, the food arrived. Mine was just okay, nothing special, and nothing you couldn't get at any other restaurant in Orange County. The salmon was brought out, minus the bagel...minor detail. When we brought it to the attention of a manager walking by, and they went back to the kitchen.15 minutes later, a bagel was brought out....pretty sure they went down the street to Vons. In fact, maybe thats why the food took so long...they had to do a run to the grocery store for the ingredients. To be the only table in the end, and still have to wait an hour in total for a bagel, packaged grocery store quality salmon, and a piece of halibut....not worth your time! If you are prepared to wait all afternoon for below quality food and service, this is place for you. Quite unforuntate given the location.

Beautiful restaurant. Very upscale looking. I came here on a Sunday at noon and only three tables were taken. Coffee is good. Eggs were cooked perfectly and service is nice. The food is quite boring with little personality. The potatoes had no flavor and were dry. Breakfast came with a bitter salad and a hair in it. Yogurt bowl was unimpressive and the whole continental breakfast gave me the impression that this restaurant was quickly thrown together for the mere sake of being there. The waiter spilled coffee all over the table which we don't care too much about except that this was our first time there and that didn't help the experience.

I rarely consider a restaurant 5 star worthy, but my brunch at Silver Trumpet was a phenomenal experience. The manager immediately came over, welcomed us and walked us through the menu and his wine suggestions. We started with the Smoked Salmon. It was garnished with capers, shaved onion, a delicious light mix of greens with roasted cherry tomatoes and served with a toasted bagel. This was the perfect beginning to a delicious lunch. For my entree I had the Eggs Sardou. I couldn't have been more pleased. The presentation was comforting, because it reminded me of a classic eggs benedict with fluffy hollandais, but it had a artistic flare that was extremely subtle. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and layered with roasted artichokes and creamed spinach atop what they called "grit cakes". The grits were a creamy delicacy that accented the flavors of the dish. I would definitely go back for this again. (Especially at such a reasonable price of $12!) My date had the short rib hash. The chunks of roasted short ribs had a rich flavor from the perfect amount of braising. The dish also had poached eggs, onions, potatoes and the delicious house hollandais. We honestly argued about which dish was better! The service was top notch with the attention to detail never being neglected. The table was always cleared and the water glasses were always full. We never once had to touch the wine bottle, as there was always somebody to keep our glasses fresh and full. This establishment was a refreshing and more formal place to enjoy Sunday brunch without the extremely high prices or stuffiness of some of the older restaurants around the area. The setting was open and airy with lots of windows and grassy areas surrounding the hotel. I can't wait to go back!

As someone who has worked in wine bars and upscale restaurants I feel like there is so much missing from this restaurant and bar. That being said, the manager Will has class and people skills and may be one of the only people who belongs in this establishment. This place could be stellar, but it falls VERY short. I ate both in the restaurant and in the bar multiple time throughout the week I stayed at this hotel, but this review is mainly about the bar. The surf and turf was delicious. The sliders must have improved since some of these reviews because they were great. The wings were hit and miss. The first time they were great - a little sweet and a little spicy. Unique flavors with the honey and spices used. The second time they were so sweet and so spicy they were barely edible. Only once in the entire week did I feel like one of the red wines was served too warm. Other than that they tasted right at price point (ranging from 5 at happy hour to 16 for my favorite cab sav). My biggest problem is the staff. They have clearly taken great care to hire good looking people, especially the men. That being said, I truly feel like almost all of them have no idea what they are doing. NOT A CLUE. I got a lot of attitude from one woman in particular who should never work in customer service. The nicer girl unfortunately has no bartending skills. Her wine pour was so low and so far below that of the other bartenders. They have big glasses and I'd say the normal pour was 5oz. It didn't look it because the glass is large but it was almost at the break in the glass. The girl's was maybe 3.5oz MAYBE. She also had no idea how to pour a bourbon. I watched her pour a few for a gentleman throughout the night and realized she was measuring based on how high the liquid came up in the glass. This was a problem because once he ordered it neat and once it was on the rocks! So he got 1/2 a pour!!! No counting, no jiggers. It was tragic. The first time I arrived at the bar 25-30 minutes before close and I got eye rolls and sighs as I tried to order even thought they hadn't given last call. Apparently my selfish late arrival triggered that because they immediately did last call and turned up the lights after putting my order in. This is not a sports bar, what respectable restaurant bar actually turns the lights up for last call? Tacky. When my bill came it was completely incorrect. It then took them a good 20 minutes to figure it out. They were stressed out and confused. I thought this was a fluke but a milder version of this happened almost every time. I watched a woman have her glass of wine spilled by someone she was with, when she requested another the assistant manager said "we don't usually give a free glass when you spill it but I will this time". It's comments like this that drive me crazy. Usually this is something a snarky unseasoned server says and the manager then apologizes for them, but this guy was in charge! Just in very poor taste for what this establishment is trying to be. Along with the service being almost awful it was also incredibly slow. To the point that I'd want an extra snack well before close (20-30min) and never even get to order because by the time someone came around (and I was sitting at the bar!) it was too late. They need an overhaul as far as the staff is concerned. The chef needs to improve the quality of the dinner dishes so that they are at least as good as the appetizers. If you're attached to the Wyndham and trying to be upscale and you have chorizo on the menu it should at least taste like it might have been made in house. I digress.... I wish I could go in and give this place the makeover it so desperately needs but I'm no longer in that industry and I'm no longer in Costa Mesa so take from this what you will. My true hope is that in time all of this improves because it could truly be an awesome chic little bar!

We went here with our travelzoo deal of a three course dinner with one drink for each person. I started with the quail appetizer and J had the shellfish. The quail was very good, but the spaetzle that the quail came with didn't have any flavor. The clams in the shellfish were good, but the a couple of the mussels didn't weren't open. The broth was very good. I had the cod entree and J had the flat iron steak. The cod was good, nothing really special. J's steak was cooked to medium rare as requested but didn't really have any flavor. For dessert, I had the cheese plate and J had the popcorn praline. The cheese plate was delicious. THe wedges of cheese were huge! It can with a brie, a very stinky blue cheese and a spanish cheese that was very good. It also came with a preserve and raisin bread. The popcorn praline came with a chocolate dome. Super cute presentation (sorry, forgot to take a picture) and very tasty. We each had the thyme lime vodka spritzer. Interesting, but probably wouldn't get it again. The meal was pretty good with the travelzoo coupon, but I"m not sure we're return and pay full price.

My my family of four celebrated our Thanksgiving meal at the silver trumpet November 28th 2013 and we looked online at the Orange County Register restaurant guide and found out that adults were $35 and children were $12.99. When we got there the food was cold it was not that tasty our waiter never waited on us to refill our glasses for ice tea and water in a timely manner. The room had few guest when we got there, but was told tgat we had to wait due to the crowd. When we paid the bill we asked them to honor the restaurant guide on Google, but the manager on hand said they couldn't because it was a 2011 guide. We did not know that, cause it didn't say, 2011 when we saw it. I'm sorry it is not our responsibility to change the guide price is it is their responsibility of the resturante to update the Orange County Register on their Thanksgiving guide cost. The bill came to $200, $45.00 a person instead of $35.00. We were very dissatisfied I will never ever refer anyone to have Thanksgiving dinner there the manager did not honor our request because of cost of the meal was $45 for adults instead of 35 which was advertised. You always honor what is advertised. Next time update your advertisement and allow a family to enjoy Thanksgiving at the cost advertised. NEVER AGAIN!

Weird dining experience. Went prior to theater with three other women. Decor was beautiful....for a while we were the only people ( 5 p.m. on a Sunday night). I ordered the crab cake appetizer and a Caesar salad. Also had $10 glass of Hess Chardonnay. Crab cake was good but small; salad was a wedge of romaine with mostly the ends vis the leaves. Too much work...give me leaves. Shaved parm was good and a nice dressing. Friends had the hamburger and fries (seemed to be the best choice for the $$), pasta and one had mini filet appetizer. The waiter was nice but overworked as restaurant filled up. He left wine off my bill; had to remind him. Lady who had pasta complained that it was cold; they took it back and returned it still not warm enough. Seemed too $$$ for what you got...guess we were paying for the location and ambience. Beautiful inside and we could talk to each other. Would go somewhere else though when going to the South Coast theater district.

This restaurant is amazing and has definitely improved since they remodeled last year. My family has been going here for the past couple years for Mothers Day brunch. I have to say, this year was the best experience we had. Everything from the decor to the service was impeccable. They had a large variety of food which included sushi, oysters, lobster bisque soup (which was surprising better than Scott's Seafood) a waffle station, omelets, roast beef, eggs benedicts and everything else you can image. I also was impressed with the mango mimosa. Service was outstanding, anything you request they will get. If you haven't experienced this restaurant, I recommend it!

I loved this place. Today was my first time going to the Silver Trumpet for lunch, and I was impressed. The food was top notch and the service was impeccable. I heard that it was recently renovated and going through even more upgrades, and I was thoroughly impressed with everything. I sat on the patio dining area and it was absolutely lovely on such a beautiful day. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant regularly!!!

We came here for brunch for father's day brunch this past Sunday looking to eat good food, drink some mimosas, and celebrate mon pere. I had never heard of the hotel the restaurant was located in, but it was a very nice setting with paneled floors that opened into a porcelain glazed restaurant. As we walked to the restaurant, there was a seating in the outside and inside, and we opted for the outside as SoCal elitists. As we waltzed through the patio overlooking the man-made lake, there was a live band with a singer, adding the the nice ambiance. After sitting down, we were offered bloody marys (unlimited with our brunch!). I was excited to try them because I generally dont like bloody marys but WAH WAH. The drink maker man (not a bar tender) rolled around the bloody mary cart throughout the restaurant, customizing the drink to each person. I asked for mine to have minimal spice because I'm a puss in boots and I swear i could not taste a drop of alcohol. Like I literally could not taste a lick of vodka in my drink. My parents had theirs remade and they said it was much better when they asked for it so be ***spicy*** but I gave up and had the champagne. Overall, pretty good brunch. The salmon was very tender and creamy-which I loved. Also had a good meat display with tri-tip, sausages, typical brunchey stuff. The only things I would say that made this brunch stand out was the excellent service, the staff was very concerned and attentive, and the availability of unlimited bloody marys. The location was beautiful! I just wish there was a larger selection of nontraditional brunch food.

I met people here for a business meeting dinner. Was very surprised to see the refurbishing..very pretty , unique, the Setting overlooking the patio, lake etc is very nice. The food was very unique and very pretty! I wish I had taken photos of it. I had heard thier food was good now and it was. We will not hesitate to dine here when going to the OC Perf Arts. No Valet Parker that we saw..so park underground and they validate you will enjoy your experience here.

Went as part of Costa Mesa Restaurant Week. Place was completely empty when we arrived, but it was only 6:30pm on a Sunday night. I brought a bottle of wine as I usually do but was SHOCKED when I was told the corkage fee was $25! I am used to and expect to pay a corkage, but $25! Ridiculous in my opinion. So we ordered a bottle of wine there because I refused to pay this amount for corkage. Had the hamachi appetizer and the roasted halibut as my entree. Both were delicious and beautifully presented but honestly, the food is the ONLY good thing I can say about this restaurant. Our server lacked in personality and presentation, and was unsure of how to carry and place our entree plates in front of us as plates were very warm. We both had empty wine glasses and he did not notice or pour additional wine for us. He was impersonal and uninterested in the menu, in our enjoying it and clearly needed some extensive training. We had the souffle for desert which again, was delicious. But we hadn't even finished and our check was presented to us. No offering of coffee (which we wanted) or an after dinner drink... no opportunity for the restaurant or our server to enlarge the check and hence, the tip. Food, ambiance and service defines a restaurant in my opinion. But if ANY of these elements is missing it unfortunately defines the experience. Too bad.... I really did enjoy the food, but the service will keep me from going back.

located in the wyndham near south coast plaza. a couple buddies and i were looking for a place to get some brunch after running a half marathon. needless to say, we were hungry, tired and definitely felt under-dressed for such a nice restaurant. we relied on kim g.'s one review at the time (fortunately it proved to be a reliable 5 star review), but screw it, we were paying customers, so we plopped down at a table in their patio, wearing our sweaty running gear, flip flops, and whatever we had on. grapefruit juice and orange juice to start. between the three of us, we had eggs benedict, corned beef hash and eggs, all american something or another and this new york steak and eggs dish, a side of croissant, and a side of bacon. most of these dishes seem fairly simple and available at any restaurant, but you can definitely tell that the chefs here are properly trained and take the time to cook your food to perfection. i think all breakfast/brunch dishes start with the how the eggs are cooked, and like i said earlier...perfection. my family has a restaurant that "specializes" in breakfast and lunch, and our cooks often screw up how eggs are supposed to be cooked. but the professional staff here didn't cut corners. poached, over easy, and sunny side up eggs all came out exactly how they ought to, which, ultimately, makes the meal for me. the dishes are nothing extraordinarily fancy for brunch, and not super pricey. the service is good, not great (as it was a little slow for us), thus making it a 4 star rather than 5. the outdoor seating was nice though, but having lovely socal weather definitely helps in that area. also, the coffee is definitely a must if you're a coffee drinker and even if you're not. overall, good experience. look forward to coming out again. perhaps, mimosa brunch...

We had dinner there before seeing West Side Story at the performing Arts Center. All I can say is I wish we had stayed longer and skipped the show b/c the dinner was the highlight of our evening!! We showed up late for our reservation (which would have been close to begin with) but explained this to our M'aitre D and server, Christopher, who made all the food appear incredibly quickly and we were still able to make the show in time! The wine list was tremendous, the service was fabulous and the food really was incredible. I have to say that when reading the menu it didn't sound very exciting but when the food arrived it was incredibly tasty, fresh and extremely well prepared and presented. The sauteed sea scallops melted in my mouth. My husband really enjoyed his halibut that was prepared in a delicious sauce but i think my scallops still beat his dish. (and the halibut was incredible, too!) all in all it was an incredible meal. We will definitely be returning when we are NOT going to a show in order to be able to linger and enjoy the ambiance and the great service even more.

Interesting food, well prepared although I was perplexed about the number of ingredients in the Halibut dish. The Short Ribs were quite good if you can't make this at home and the rest of the menu looked enticing enough to lure me back. Romaine salad was delicious, the Quail appetizer nicely done. The setting is lovely. Our waiter, Fredo, the best of the best. I'd go back for him.

Had an excellent time with a girlfriend before the ballet. The restaurant was beautiful and the staff was super friendly. I had the butter lettuce salad and my girlfriend had the quail appetizer. The butter lettuce was really fresh with strawberries, carrots, blue cheese crumbles and a green goddess dressing. For dinner I had the scallops and my girlfriend had the cod. The scallops were excellent, you get 4 huge scallops on a very simple and light setup. This is a great dish if your not to hungry. Finally we ordered dessert, always my favorite part. We shared the mixed berry cobbler, it was awesome. This place is perfect if you are going to the show at 730, they had us in and out in an hour. I will be for sure be coming back here.

We went during Costa Mesa Restaurant Week and all I have to say is that the service was fabulous. I haven't had that enjoyable of a dining experience in quite some time. The host didn't just disappear after seating us -- he went to get water, made sure that we didn't have wine glasses cluttering the table, asked us how we were doing, etc. And he didn't even need to do that because the wait staff were great as well. I think he did it just so he could check in and see how we were doing. This isn't to say they were hovering -- it was just great service. Our waiter was also phenomenal. Very personable and just the right amount of conversation. We also asked for a wine pairing with the prix fixed menu and he was right on top of it. My boyfriend enjoyed the pairing very much (I didn't drink). If the food had been better, I'd give it a 4.5 rounding it to a 5. However, the food was okay although the chocolate souffle was great (very rich though) and the lobster appetizer was yum yum yum.

Went to the Silver Trumpet with several friends today with shining expectations. Sadly, as they say in Texas, the restaurant was "All hat and no cattle". It was beautifully decorated, the food LOOKED good, but that is about it. Reminded me of a beautiful woman that looks fabulous on on the outside, but had no soul. The service was exasperatingly slow, even though our hostess promised us that our waiter would spoil us. Evidently by spoil she meant we would sit there until we rotted. There was a very large party of perhaps 30 people on the patio, so that may have slowed down the service, but if you have a reservation on that size wouldn't you put on more staff? There were only 4 tables with people inside and it was like watching a glacier move. One member of our party commented that he had had better risotto on Carnival Cruise Lines. If you are on a no salt diet then this is the place for you.

Great staff. Loved the Beef and Barley dish, it was delicious! The Beet and Burrata Salad was a nice starter. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful afternoon. This is a hidden gem with good quality food and the price point is reasonable. Very pleased for a hotel restaurant and sometimes it's the luck of the draw. Now I'm waiting for the Spiced Poached Pear desert

Came here for brunch on a Saturday, and was welcomed with an offer for a bottomless glass of bloody marys or mimosas for $10. I'm sure I got my money's worth after six of them, and they were delicious. They definitely had a shot or two of vodka in each. My wife ordered the 7oz New York steak and eggs, and I had eggs benedict. The steak was tender, perfectly cooked(medium rare), and was the biggest 7oz cut I've seen. More like 9 or 10oz. The hollandaise on the benedict was tasty; very creamy, almost buttery flavor. The service from Luis was great. We'll be back for brunch tomorrow. And to top it off, a free piece of cheesecake for the yelp check in. Very fluffy and fresh tasting. Awesome decor and atmoshere! A no brainer if you're staying at the Wyndham. If you're not, don't take a chance on your hotel's restaurant. Come here and leave satisfied.

The food is good, in fact the catered food I had here while spending several days in a business meeting was very good, especially for a short buffet line. The service in the restaurant is terrible. The stools at the bar are very uncomfortable, the drinks are incredibly expensive and no draft beer.

I've been to silver trumpet a couple times for drinks and have never been disappointed! I love sitting at the bar, and think it's a great spot to hit up after going to the theater. I had a drink with muddled blackberry which was so good!

Finally writing a review after numerous outings to Silver Trumpet. Last night my girlfriend and I took a couple of our friends our for belated 21st birthday celebration. We went straight to the bar because the dinning room was already closed. The bar had a good amount of people but we were still able to be seated at one of the fabulous couches in the middle of the bar. Grace, our favorite bartender, made an extra effort to say "HI!" even though we weren't sitting at the bar top this time around. Rebecca, our cocktail waitress, was at our table in no more than 30 seconds after being sat. This was perfect because we couldn't keep a freshly 21 year old waiting for her drinks. My friend and I went with my drink of choice, the Old Fashioned. The rest of the table went for the Moscow Mule because they do it so well: copper mug, in-house made ginger syrup, Tito's Vodka, fresh squeezed lime (they actually squeeze the limes themselves), splash of soda, garnished with fresh mint and a candied ginger candy! Tell me where else you get that kind of quality in your Mule? NO WHERE! ha. After our first round we decided to grab a bottle of wine. Zach, whom I think was the supervisor, was kind enough to make a selection for us, the 2009 Landmark Chardonnay and and we couldn't have been happier; great price point for the quality and vintage. Moving on to food...We were a little skeptical when we got wind that they were going to be changing their bar food menu, but our worries are over! We started with the revamped Three Cheese with Charcuterie and Bacon Wrapped Dates. -The Bacon Wrapped Dates: Gorgonzola stuffed dates wrapped in bacon served on top of a honey-chipotle emulsion; probably the best appetizer from the previous menu. -The Cheese with Charcuterie: Humboldt fog, Spanish aged manchego, camembert cheese, sopressata piccante, truffle salami, lomo embuchado, grilled french baquette and honey comb. They also added one of the best goat cheeses I've ever had. Our next two choices for appetizers were the Truffle Soppressata Pizza and the Flash Fried Broccolini. -The Truffle Soppressata Pizza: crispy rosemary flatbread, pesto, fresh mozzarella cheese, soppressata and truffle oil (so simple but so delicious). Side Note: I've never been the biggest fan of truffle oil, but this has made me a believer in truffles; revolutionary. -Flash Fried Broccolini: sea salt, lemon and Parmesan cheese. Just before they stopped serving food we made sure to try a couple of their new desserts. We went for the Key Lime Panna Cotta and Beignet Duo. I'm so mad I didn't take any pictures last night, but the presentation on the new desserts were impeccable. If that wasn't enough, I'd come back here over and over just to have the Key Lime Panna Cotta. Whoever made the new changes, keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future! All in all, a home run for the Silver Trumpet last night! On behalf of my group, thank you.

I haven't been to a place this nice in a while, we had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, and it was the perfect place to go for date night. The restaurant was very well kept. Our server Eddie was very helpful. He served us quickly, and was regularly checking on us to make sure we were satisfied. He made us feel very welcomed, and comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves very much! Overall I enjoyed this restaurant very much and will be back. Nice to know that we might end up regulars :) can't wait to come by for happy hour!

Review is about their Lounge areas So I wasn't going to write a review but the serves here that I experienced last week has still stuck with me! Our server was Rebecca! She was literally the worst server I have ever had. She is lucky I am not a violent person. I will just list all the awful things this girl did! 1. She never said welcome 2. She constantly rolled her eyes 3. She gave us soooo much attitude 4. She wasn't prepared to take our order so she wrote it all on her hand!!! Her hand! Like it was some guys phone number! 5. After she took our order while shrugging like a teenage girl with attitude and said "anything else?".... Are you serious?!?? 6.Took over 20 mins just for our drinks! 7. She must of washed her hands because she didn't bring out our food. 8. We later discovered she sent the food to the wrong table. But blamed us for moving! 9. She then later said the kitchen remade the food but then threw it out... I was confused by the lie since I'm a server at a fine dining restaurant in South Coast... Wont mention the name but it is the #1 restaurant in oc! And this girl would have been fired on the spot! And the kitchen never makes food just to throw it out! 10. We asked for the check and my friends card didn't go threw because he didn't activate it and this b#/$& came back and said "your card declined" like a brat... Who does that? Not even someone at Denny's would do that! 11. He then gave her a 100 dollar bill and when she came back with the change she literally threw the check presenter at the table!!!!! No joke! 12.We told what we thought was a manager how awful Our server was... He just smiled and said "was her name Rebecca..." And he just smiled and said ok.... What? No apology??!?! Even if this guy wasn't a manager he should of apologized and called a manager... Not just walk around in a suit for appearances! I hope the GM reads this review! I hope that the patio has a camera so he can see how awful this Rebecca girl is! I hate negative Yelpers... But know I understand why they do it, because of disgusting servers like Rebecca! I also would like to be thanked by the GM for not making a huge scene at his restaurant and telling that awful girl off! It has been a week since I've had this experience and writing this review you can tell I'm still heated! Even if our server was having a bad day the first rule of customer serves is leave your personal problems at the door and put on a smile!!! People are constantly calling our restaurant when we are booked solid and asking for recommendations or when they enjoy our serves and food the ask were can they experience a similar serves... I now know where I can tell them not to go and why! Party of 5 We sat on the patio On 8/16/15 Around 5pm I'm giving you all the above info so in case you do have a camera on the patio, you can review your servers "great" serves and see how accurate my review is! Final thought... I usually tip 25% cause I'm in the industry and know how tough serving can be... We left her a dollar...I want my dollar back!

So I keep hearing of how much Wyndham has tried to revamp the restaurant and give the menu a once over. The menu is all fine dining prices but all low budget service and quality. Since I didn't trust the menu, and knew I could walk across the street to Maestros for the same price, I went with a Caesar salad, and ordered it with a piece of salmon. The arrogant condescending "manager" Mario (after 45min) had the audacity to serve me what looked like the sole of an old shoe. It appears the only leadership at that facility is Zach, but unfortunately he manages the bar since Mario has come on board.

A-ok by no means is a bad review. It's exactly what it is.. mediocre. Nothing bad, nothing good. Would I go back? Yes, probably. But not anytime soon... I like the ambiance here. It's cozy and swanky. They bar room has a couple of 4 persons tables that you can enjoy dinner on, and then there a handful of plush couches to lounge and get your snack on. I like the set up here. The restaurant is bigger and doesn't follow the chic décor of the bar area, but by no means is it drab. Our group of 4 decided to dine in the bar area since no one was in the restaurant portion... Cricket... well that doesn't really prevent me from going to a place.. but sure does raise an eyebrow. To keep this shorter than what it's already seeming to have become-- I liked this place. Cocktails are on the smaller side and range from $10-$12. Dinner fare is petite, which can be expected and this sort of establishment. What really floored me was their charcuterie platter. $22! Well, it was $12 for just cheese and $10 for meat added. Meat added meant 4 slices of salami and 3 rolls of some other meat, that I did not enjoy hence my little knowledge of what it was. Yeah, really? I like that mood they set here, everything else needs to step up their game though.

Positive update in regards to a bad experience I had here last year at the bar. So glad to be able to give these guys a great review this time. Back in sunny SoCal & staying at the same place. The happy hour at this bar is really fantastic. Great deals & super tasty. Place is very chic looking & a nice place to hang out with a couple friends or a date. For happy hour, they have a fantastic beet salad with burrata cheese for only $5. They also have sliders & short rib tacos for $2.50. Their service is really wonderful. Glad to see that they've improved on their staff & got rid of the riffraff that was there before. Happy hours are everyday from 4-7pm & then from 10-closing. Totally worth it before or after the theater.

I stayed at the Avenue of the Arts Wyndham Hotel for about a week on business. Included with my room was daily breakfast at the Silver Trumpet Restaurant. I was able to try various dishes on the menu and everything tasted great. The restaurant was almost empty during the weekday mornings so it equated to fast and attentive service. They also have outdoor seating which for me is a major plus. I got to try all of the following dishes and I enjoyed all of them however my favorite was the All American: The All American ($13) - two eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, toast Butter Milk Pancakes ($10) - maple syrup, seasonal berries French Toast ($10) - banana cream stuffed, fruit compote, artisanal syrup Breakfast Burrito ($12) - scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, cheddar cheese, guajillo chile sauce The Continental ($12) - fresh breakfast breads, organic yogurt, house made granola, seasonal fruit If I ever need to stay at the Avenue of the Arts Wyndham hotel again, I will be looking forward to eating breakfast here again.

Kenneth- IF the advertisement is true, then why did the parking attendants insist that everyone prepays? How can you validate parking when they don't give you a parking ticket? In fact, he said that they "never accept validations" and "everyone pays." You all need to work on your communication and get your stories straight.

If you are looking for a place with a beautiful, modern, and avant-garde ambience this is the place to be. I love their outdoor patio seating with a view of the lake which sometimes has really cute baby ducks walking around lol but anyways I've come here a few times and personally was never really impressed by their food until my last visit. I thought it was too bland for the price and once my fries came out really cold :( so I was skeptical to come back (I mean you do come to a restaurant to eat, why make it the crappiest part of the experience). Though on my last visit our waiter, Eddy, suggested a rack of lamb plate and paired it with an exquisite glass of wine. Which may I add, I am super picky on my wine!!! If I was basing my review on solely the decor, service, and prices I would rate it 5 stars. But the food is a hit or miss so I had to knock of a star for that.

    * This review is for the bar only. I came here on a Thursday, before a wedding rehearsal to grab a drink. The place was POPPIN'! It was pretty crowded with (+35 years) nicely dressed adults and was beautifully decorated. I'm not sure if it is always like this or if it is because the Segerstrom Center had a fancy event going on next door. If it is always like this, I would say that it would be a decent place for older adults to meet for drinks. The lack of stars are due to the service wait time and drinks. It took a while to get any recognition. Further, the drinks are really weak and not tasty. I got a Moscow Mule. My friend got a Mojito. Both were watered down and left us feeling sad.

My friends and I went here for Happy Hour. There is parking at the hotel area near the entrance to the restaurant that you can validate at the restaurant. For Happy Hour they have the Beet Salad and Chicken Wings for $5, and tacos and sliders for $2.50 each. Specialty Drinks were $8 each and I didn't get any of the other drinks so I forgot their price. Of the drinks we tried, I liked the strawberry smash most. It was sweet and pleasant and the crushed up strawberries added a fragrant smell to the drink. The cranberry mojito tasted like a less fragrant and sweet version of this drink and I didn't like it as much. The beet salad was decent, the ingredients were fresh tasting and the salad was made well. The wings were really good, I believe we ordered the honey habanero flavor and the sweetness complimented the light spiciness and crunchiness so well. The sliders were just okay, good for a filler food but not really all that noteworthy.

Went in late night around 11:00 pm and received the best service I have experienced in a long time from Rebecca. She was very attentive with every table even though there was a small rush. Service like that really makes you appreciate the overall experience. Great food and even greater service!

Food: Mediocre Atmosphere: Beautiful Service: Awful The restaurant's decor is beautiful, but of course, you'd like to leave feeling satisfied about a little more than the light fixtures and tablecloths when you're spending a few hundred on a meal. Our food was okay. Definitely nothing to return for and everyone was left wanting a little more flavor. The sea bass was dry, the gnocchi was salty, scallops and pasta were alright. The chocolate cake did get rave reviews from our party, but then again, they only have three desserts in total to offer and the other two were simply alright. What was the most disappointing was the service. Our waiter, Luis, was abrupt and inattentive. I can overlook the fact that he needed to be asked twice for things like bread and lemon, that the assistant who came to deliver the food with Luis knew who ordered which dish better than the waiter himself, and his running joke of answering "no" when we ordered drinks or food. When asked what type of beautiful garnish was in the salad, he began to explain that he normally doesn't work dinner service, complained that he'd been there since early that morning, and patted himself on the back for "doing them a favor." Really? My father ordered the Prix Fixe menu and asked if he could choose his dessert option after his meal. Luis promptly told him he needed to choose NOW because that's the way it has to be done so he can put into the system. After the food was delivered, he said, "Let me know when you're ready for your dessert." I suppose we'll come find you? At one point we were waiting at the end of our meal. Luis was nowhere to be found and another woman came in to check on us. In Luis fashion, she was almost out the door as quickly as she came in. Two of our party were able to ask for a refill on drinks before she darted out. One of the refills was a request for water and rather than bringing a whole pitcher back, given that 4 others were sitting with empty glasses, she grabbed the glass and left, bringing back just the one. All of our empty plates still sat in front of us while we waited... There are other incidents, but you get the idea. Since we were celebrating Father's Day, I didn't want to make a scene, so I paid the obligatory service charge and left. However, I was truly disappointed in a way I have probably only felt one other time when dining out. Even my father, who is so patient and always tips in excess later told me he was not impressed with Luis. It's unfortunate that this was our experience as clearly, others have enjoyed their meal here.

need for morning coffee...avenue of the arts wyndham hotel restaurant....fairly empty, but nice...professional staff and eloquent service...careful pouring of coffee...menu browsing...steak and eggs, two omelets and a breakfast burrito...breakfast meals for four people $90 after tax and tip....simple dainty burrito good...steak cooked as requested...omelets and fruits a perfect portion just enough to fill...

Sometime you try new restaurants and it can be a hit or miss. This one was a miss. First sign is when you walk in and there no one else except 2 other tables. Tried the prix fixe. 1. Beet and burrata salad. First they brought out the wrong salad. Once I received my order, it consisted of one spoonful of mushy burrata on flavorless greens. The beets were ok, nothing spectacular. 2. Petite filet. Flavorless and cooked way over. Ordered it medium: It came out dry and well-done. Waitress actually said that "for medium, we will cook it until it's grey all the way thru." 3. Chocolate cake and mousse. Ok. The mousse was good. But was expecting chocolate cake and there was an orange liqueur taste that overwhelmed the chocolate. For the price point, it was underwhelming.

Came in and was immediately greeted by the bartender and sat at the bar. Then the manger zach introduced himself and let us try his new barrel aged cocktail which was awesome so i ordered 2. Had a couple happy hour sliders which were as great as i remembered and finished it with some key lime pie. 5 stars!

Let's start with Grace. Grace was an incredible host and took good care of us while we were here for the two weeks that the national touring company of Annie was in town. We were accommodated very well, treated like a true honored guests, and she was more than friendly... She was an excellent host.

Traveled from deepest Los Angeles to watch a play at SCR. First off, you can walk to the theater...that's +++. Interesting wine list...had a Freakshow Cabernet which went well with our entrees. Excellent side salads .. both the vinaigrette and the blue cheese dressings were complementary and not overwhelming. The sea bass was firm with crisp skin, enhanced by the spices and sausage. The tagliatelle pasta was accompanied by a full bodied sauce with several kinds of ground meat. Blessedly, the side vegetables were not overcooked..and the balsamic glaze was very pleasant. Have a relaxing dinner by the lake.

The black and white linguine was really good, the pan seared scallops was yummy as well but the portion was too small. We want moreeee!! Our server, Eddie, gave us free appetizer and desserts because it was a friend's birthday. Overall we enjoyed our dinner!

Oh Silver Trumpet...I had higher expectations for you. This restaurant is quite deceiving because it is located in Costa Mesa right next to Avenue of the Arts Wyndham Hotel with South Coast Plaza just a few blocks away. From the outside, it appears very sophisticated and potentially high-end. Sadly, I can only attribute that to its indoor decor. There are outdoor seating arrangements but the tables are dirty and scratched. And the white couches in the outdoor patio are dingy and marked so it looks like they need to be cleaned but the marks are permanent. The first time I came here was in the Summer time. I sat in the patio with the white tables and chairs with umbrella's over-head. Our server was named Ignacio. He was a very eager and attentive server. Eager to a fault because he kissed both mine and my friends hands! Very unexpected and slightly uncomfortable but I guess he was trying to be nice? Idk. Anyway, his service was great. He kept checking on us and incessantly re-filled our $10/endless mimosas. Maybe he was trying to get us drunk thus our goal was the same haha My girl friend ordered the tuna melt which looked sloppy and hardly had any taste. I ordered a soup/salad which were both bland. We were not impressed by the food. Not to mention the bill. Definitely too high for the lack of quality in the cuisine. My second time here was just yesterday. About 6 months after my first time hoping my experience might be better. I again sat outdoor but this time, closer to the front entrance with the small circular glass tables, gold chairs and white couches. The tables were too small for the plates they served and it felt crammed. Our server was a guy who we realized later, was actually working at the bar. His service was horrible. Only checked on us once, forgot our silverware, didn't provide extra napkins and I literally had to get up and go get him to ask for re-fills on our waters and mimosas. It was a frustrating brunch for sure. He said that our seating wasn't in his line of vision from the bar therefore he couldn't tell when we needed refills. Ummm, aren't you a server? Which means you constantly need to check on us? Like wth, anyway... I ordered the Silver Trumpet Breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, berries and wheat bread. The food was definitely low quality. Eggs tasted fake, bread was dry, berries were old and a bit mashed. My guest ordered the Trumpeter's omelet which was small and very tasteless. The basil and roasted tomatoes hardly brought any flavor to the omlet. What a shame considering my guest loves these ingredients. This plate came with fruit. Old and dry melons and pineapple *sigh* Honestly, the only real highlight of this were the $10 endless mimosas which I kept having to ask the server to refill. Our bill was a tad over $50. Gosh do I wish had taken that money and gone to Shabu! Oh well. You live and learn. This restaurant needs to upgrade the food and service. The core of a good restaurant, I believe.

This place is such a delight! I brought my mom and my boyfriends mom here for mothers day brunch. It was buffet style with tons of wonderful and intriguing food. First off, we were greeted at the door with glasses of champagne and immediately seated at our beautifully set table by the warm and inviting hostess, Montana. The restaurant supervisor, John (who has an awesome sense of style btw) came up to our table as soon as we were seated and chatted with us for a bit, he then personally made a hazelnut latte for my boyfriends mom. As we were going to the first buffet table the chef came up and greeted us. My first plate consisted of fresh fruit and an amazing shaved brussel sprouts salad mixed with feta, cranberries, toasted almonds and bacon with a mustard vinaigrette, so interesting and different! I loved it! I filled my second plate with grilled halibut with lemon herb pesto that was cooked to perfection. I also decided to get a bit of the new york steak topped with grilled onions and a side of asparagus, so yummy! Next was the dessert, they dedicated an entire room to all the beautifully made desserts which were all made in house. I went for a chocolate eclair and a white chocolate conch shell filled with some sort of heavenly strawberry custard I believe. John made me some fresh espresso to go along with my dessert which was the perfect icing on the cake of this wonderful meal and experience. Will absolutely be coming back soon!!

I came here for brunch because my friend decided to celebrate her birthday here. This restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Everything about this restaurant is very gorgeous and elegant! The service here was also outstanding. We ordered endless mimosa & bloody marys and the server made sure our glasses were filled when it needed to be. The brunch menu offered a pretty good variety, and was very affordable. I thought the prices would be really expensive because the decor made it seem like it but it was very affordable! (Good thing!) It is located inside a hotel, and parking might be a little bit difficult (Either park in the structure or do valet).

Check in for a free dessert (as of 5/31/14). Friendly bartenders, cool translucent bar. Nice place to have a casual cocktail with your significant other and talk. Even though they do have a large TV over the bar, the night we were there it was not on which gave the place a nice, small nightclub atmosphere. Music levels are low enough for conversation and there are multiple seating areas (even though it is fairly small) to accommodate small parties or medium sized groups (less than 20). Worth a try if you're in the area or if you're catching a show at the performing arts center. Enjoy!

This past Saturday after noon I went into the bar for some of their amazing tacos and to try out their new holiday drink special. The Blood orange cocktail was AMAZING! Asher and Chris both were so very polite and helpful! They worked very well together! After I received my food hot and fresh thanks to the server, Montanna, I had an very nice chat with Zach, Grace, and Tetiana about the holidays! This team worked very well together! All of the night crew worked very well together! A+!!

A couple stars for our attentive waitress and one star for cool decor. The food left A LOT to be desired. My boyfriend and I walked in here on a Sunday evening for dinner. Let's go in order of courses: He ordered the Bolognese soup to start and it turned out to be, what I'M SURE, to be left over bolognese SAUCE; just put pasta in there and you'd be good to go! I ordered the grilled Romaine salad. Someone needs to be fired for shitty food presentation here. When something is grilled, it's always smart to showcase the grill marks. The romaine heart was cut in half, grilled on the cut side (of course), then put on the plate with the grill marks down.... Big no-no! I had no idea it was even grilled! To top it off, it wasn't grilled ENOUGH. Not to mention the croutons on it were sadly stale :( They're also not wise at pricing this salad at $9... Yes, you get a lot for what you pay, but HALF a Romaine heart would have sufficed! Just make sure you pay attention to details (i.e. Croutons, dressing, etc.) to make this a wow salad. And remember, grilled side always up! The boyfriend had the roasted chicken. It actually was good... The reduction on it was delicious. I had the skirt steak and it was abominable. It wasn't cut on the biased like it was supposed to be and the portion was grotesquely small, despite its $25 price point. All in all, a just ok experience, which is sad when you take account the beautiful decor. Won't be back.

After writing a 2 star review for this restaurant I was contacted by the executive Chef Carlos Garcia via Yelp. He suggested that we give him a call and try to arrange my birthday party there. My husband was planning the event so he worked out all the arrangements with Carlos. Carlos was very nice and accommodating. He truly wanted to help us so we would host the dinner there. When someone is that passionate about something, you ought to give them a chance, right? So we decided to give this place another chance. We had a party of 27 guests and that was a problem when we first contacted this restaurant, Carlos was able to work with us so we didn't have to have a prefix menu, we were also granted 4 bottles of wine w/o corkage fee and no cake cutting fees. When we first called, they suggested a prefixed menu OR everyone would have to order the exact some dish! They also wanted to charge cake cutting fees even if we had cupcakes! Anyhow, I know my husband and Carlos exchanged numerous text messages and phone calls so we expected everything to go smoothly at the time of our party. When the weekend came around, my husband confirmed the guest number and he was told we couldn't all sit on the tall table because it only seats 24 people and we would be seated on the lower seats. That would've worked out well since myself and other 2 friends are over 5 months pregnant. When we got there they had us all seat on the tall table, we had 27 and not 24 guests! The manager apologized and said he misunderstood. Honestly, they need to hire a manager that speaks fluent English so there are no miscommunication issues. I recall the first time we called on speaker phone, the manager was also the one w. spoke to and it was like pulling teeth. I was not happy with that at all because the 4 friends that had to sit on the end of the long table/lower portion looked like they were on a kid's table. They were also from out of town and I was embarrassed to have them sit there. They already didn't know most of the other guests and instead of being able to mingle and meet my other friends they were like outcasts. I was getting frustrated and I could tell my husband was too. The staff tried to work things out by separating the long table into two sections so we could have people seat on the ends of each section. Again that failed because we needed 4 extra seats so we left the table divided into 2 sections and the kiddy table on the far end. What a mess! We had 7:30 pm reservations. By the time we were ready to order it was 9 pm. I was starving, frustrated and ready to pass out. They did give us complementary appetizers, crab cakes and a breaded shrimp and they were both cold and hard. I had to eat some since I was starting to feel nauseous and probably starving my unborn child. I heard a friend asked the waiter for a bread basked and the waiter's response was "Oh ya". 20 min later he shows up with the bread baskets. This was the same waiter we had last time so I knew not to expect great service. For comparison, I ordered the exact same dish I did two weeks before... I have yet to try an amazing salmon at a restaurant but last time I thought the salmon was pretty good. Large portion, good flavor, not fishy and pretty fresh. This time, the fish was about 1/2 the size and cold. Not room temperature, just plain cold. Cold fish taste terrible unless you are eating sashimi. Again, disappointed. The tall chairs were really heavy and hard to get in and out of and that's not because I'm pregnant, everyone around me agreed. When I couldn't hold it any longer I had my husband help me out and I had no desire to go back to my seat so I went to check on everyone and apologize for the seating arrangement and the delay. At that time, I noticed that some people ate all their food and some didn't even touch their dishes. I was told that even though some people ordered the exact same dish, one of them came out without any garnishing, like it was a completely different dish. Interesting... I'm really discouraged because I really wanted to try this place again, give them another chance...Instead I got home from my own birthday dinner and ate cereal... I love the fact that Carlos was so willing to help us and that the ambiance was so perfect. The rush for the theater goers was already gone. It was like we had a private restaurant! But man...they need better staff. Servers like the ones at Mastros would help this place tremendously! Lively, fun waiters! Not waiters that say "Oh ya" when you ask for a bread basket! It's a shame because this was a very influential group of people we had, lawyers, doctors, dentists, therapists, business owners...people that would've caused a chain reaction and brought lots of customers. I'm a big believer in "word of mouth" referrals because that's how I get my clients. Hopefully they will re-staff this restaurant and make this place a really happening spot!

came here for my cousins baby shower. we went during Sunday brunch so it's $10 unlimited mimosas and/or bloody marys. we got to have the shower in a smaller room in the back near the kitchen. it was a small area and kind of cute and cozy. I don't know if their AC is usually this weak but it was pretty hot in the restaurant. they said they would have it fixed but it wasn't. I tried the blue crab and tuna melt. I expected it to be in a sandwich form and grilled like a tuna melt but it wasn't like that. what I got was like tuna on a twisted raisin bun. I thought the fish was kind of dry. I didn't like how the dish was made at all. I expected hot and creamy. it came with fries but these are the thick fries and I like them thin like mcdonalds or shoestrings. do not get this dish! it was $17 overall this place was okay. wouldn't be coming back for the food but maybe for Sunday brunch?

Best wings I have ever tried. They have a nice staff, reasonable prices for the area. The place is oddly decorated and very similar to what I imagine Dennis Rodman's living room looking like.

Staff is friendly. The ambience is relaxing at Lunchtime playing smooth jazz style music. Had the Lobster grilled cheese sandwich with a fresh minced garlic melted butter dip. It was Amazing! Must try. Delicious street tacos for Happy hour! The atmosphere is a bit loud in the evening mixup of light club-style music & romance, but hey...it's a bar, right. The restaurant area is more elegant and peaceful overlooking the man-made lake and beautiful fountain area. They need a little better communication between the restaurant and bar. Restaurant told us happy hour was at 9pm when in fact it was 9:30. A little mixup on amount of tacos ordered and forgetting to honor the free dessert promotion, but quickly fixed the problem and honored the promotion too. So watch your bill, if it matters to you. Overall experience was pleasant and will highly recommend this place.

I have had my eye on this place for quite sometime. I work in the area, so after getting off one night I decided to give it a try. ' They are open late so this is a big plus, although their full menu stops at 10 or so. They do however have a great late night happy hr where many of their items are only 5.00$ I started with a lemon drop which was on HH. It was very good. We decided to share a few things on the menu. Below is what we tried -Calamari- Very good, Crispy and fried to perfection. -Corn Cakes- These were awesome. A total guilty pleasure. They were served as two large cakes topped with fresh green salsa and tomatoes. -Mini Tacos- Served with beef. They were practically bite sized but vey good none the less. -Sliders- I didn't try this item but my friend said it was great. What I like most about this spot is the ambiance. They have a kind of retro/modern design with dim lighting and colored low lights. They also have a nice little lounge area or patio, as well as a large dinning area. Our server was awesome. Super friendly and attentive. Overall I really liked this spot and will definitely return to try them out lunch or dinner sometime. P.S If you check in on yelp they offer a free dessert

After finally trying this restaurant before an SCR play, I can say we are totally impressed with the quality of food by the chef and exceptional service by Susan. Another plus is having our dinner on the patio overlooking "the lakes" with the sound of the fountain spray and breeze blowing through the tree lined landscape around the lake. The chopped salad was huge and delicious...more than enough for two hungry people. The filet of beef was cooked perfectly and the key lime panna cotta dessert was excellent. I must say this restaurant is a hidden gem that should be recognized for its food quality at such a reasonable price when compared to all the other restaurants within walking distance, which I have tried them all. My only regret is that I waited this long to dine here....but that's going to change as I will be coming back here regularly as part of our evening when attending the performing arts.

We went for dinner very late, about 9:15 so it was pretty much empty. Still, we enjoyed the music, decor, and found are server very friendly and likable. The 3 stars is for the food. The bread the serve is not tasty. I had the salmon and wild rice, which for the price should have been phenomenal, but it was just ok. I could have made it for myself at home for a fraction of the cost. The artichoke ravioli was pretty good, but I don't think it was memorable. I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat here if I was in the area.

The Ambience: I came here with my sister and her friend on a Thursday. The bar is nice, but a quick scan of the room revealed a much older crowd. I suppose I could have paid more attention to the name, because there were enough silver foxes to go around twice over. The Food: My sister's friend ordered chicken wings, and they took forever to come out of the kitchen. An hour later, they arrived. Nothing special, either. I ordered a moscow mule, but wasn't impressed. I've had way better at The Yard House. Overall: I don't think I will be back. The food & drinks were mediocre, and the crowd wasn't what I was looking for.

It's such a beautiful place to dine in and great for dates, or a business meetings because it's so quiet and calming dinning here. The ambiance is so relaxing and calm. We came for the Sunday brunch and sat in the patio with a view of the small lake and both ordered the New York Steak and Eggs ($18) Steak was a very lean and thin 7oz of meat. We asked for Medium rare steaks and the steaks came Medium well. When the waitress came and asked if everything was ok, we told her the steak was way over cooked and she said, oh yeah it is, and she apologized. She didn't even ask if we wanted to get the steaks swap out. We were kind of disappointed but didn't make a big issue about it because I was with someone that doesn't like to make a big hassle about things like that.. ( grrr! Lol) Food portion is small and there is no complimentary bread and butter plate. Bottomless mimosa for $10 was a good deal! One table per check in free dessert so we got the Salted Caramel Pudding to share. Was hoping they let us slide with 2 check ins since they totally messed up on our steaks. (Only because the pudding was sooo good, I wanted more! Lol ) The pudding was not too sweet but sweet enough for that sweet tooth cravings. The sea salt gave it a darn good kick to it. The food was good but left us still hungry after a $50 brunch, so we decided to leave to and go to the Vive De France to have a snack. There is probably a few things that needs to change and improve. This place has so much potential. I would really like to bring my friends and family back. Just hope they add more items to their menu and don't messed up on the steak again. It's right next to the Wyndham Hotel so it's very convenient. The restaurant validate parking with no time limit so you can stay as long as you want to enjoy the stunning atmosphere.

Whenever the bf and I can't decide what to eat, we end up here for brunch. Its a nice walk if u live in the the surrounding apt complexes! I always order the blue crab/tuna melt with fries. Sandwich consists of tons of tuna and blue crab on a croissant. YUM! We always get the waiter, Ignacio. He's super friendly and funny. Sit outside on the patio, especially on a beautiful socal day! At night: this place is great for drinks! Since it turns in to a modernize OC lounge.

Came her for breakfast and wasn't impressed. Breakfast was very plain and simple. No complaints just nothing to brag about. I tried to order a muffin they came back from the kitchen to tell me they were all out. Ordered bottomless mimosas and service was So slow (due to understaffing, not lack of try) we only got 3 small glasses in the 1.5 hours we we there.

This review is sort of un-even. So let's start with the Silver Trumpet Restaurant itself: Decor/Ambiance is grade A Service is grade C (being nice, considering this is supposed to more on fine dining) - our server didn't really have a pleasant personality, nor was he any help with our entree recommendations. Food itself was a C. My steak came out luke-warm to room temperature. It's kind of like eating a steak that has been sitting out for like 15-20 minutes. (*The whole restaurant was only about 50% full, so I can imagine if they had a full-house, how they would have handled it). Now to the Silver Trumpet BAR: Service is grade A Waitresses were pleasant and very attenttive, grade A Bartender had good recommendations and great personality, grade A Ambiance/Decor of Bar was of course, grade A Finger Food/Tapas at the BAR area was grade A (little negative, was that they weren't allowed to have the NBA/Lakers game on, since they don't want to make it seem like a sports bar) So I would give the restaurant one more try on another occasion and see if they had an off day or not. But I will definitely return for Happy Hour at the BAR itself, or just go to the BAR after a show or dinner elsewhere.

I had a great time here. awesome staff, Seems very well managed Delicious food, tasty drinks Chic decor, great ambience But... As I was sitting at my bar trying to enjoy my time then I was disturbed by the music videos that were playing. They completely threw me off and made me not want to even sit at the bar. I just wanted to enjoy my drink with a game or something equivalently entertaining, so I asked the bartender to change it and he said they're "not allowed" to change the channel?! I don't blame the bartender he gave me great service I blame whoever made that stupid rule where I can't watch a basketball game while enjoying a drink.

New hidden gem!!!! Perfect for date night or girls night out. This review is solely for their happy hour bar which happens daily 4-7pm or 930-close. I love love the ambiance and decor. It's ultra modern and electric. The best part is no one knows about this joint. It's is perfect to bring your date relax and enjoy. $5 house wines $5 appetizers $8 specialty cocktails Sliders and tacos $2.50each My happy hour usual orders: Beets salad, sliders, taco, wings with sauce on the side. Mainly, this is a good joint to enjoy with your date or girlfriends and have some drinks and unwind without the OC crowds. This place is perfect to enjoy the company your are with without crowds. They have excellent service here which is a bonus!

Silver Trumpet is truly a hidden gem in Costa Mesa. It's a great atmosphere to be at, especially after a long day of work. Both the food and customer service is amazing. Did I mention the food is good? My favorites include the short rib mac and cheese that is sooo delicious that it makes you want to put your face in it, grilled calamari, and their house wine. The bar staff is super friendly and suggested many of their drinks and appetizers. Jason, the manager suggested the short rib tacos and the sliders, which were phenomenal. Goes to show that the staff knows what the customer wants and really cares. So if you are looking for a chill environment with good food and drinks, come here!

Hosted a baby shower here over the weekend and had an awesome experience. The price was reasonable, food was good and service was excellent. The restaurant is large and very clean with modern decor, the perfect place to accommodate large groups. We reserved a semi-private table (between the private room and entrance to the outdoor seating area). Parking was a breeze and they validate for parking! I would highly recommend :)

Walked in here randomly with a couple of friends and was stunned by the atmosphere. The decor is amazing here, and I also loved the outside patio! Tetiana (I hope I spell the name right) was our server. She was so cheerful, sweet, and very knowledgeable about the drinks. I got the The Great Gig in the Sky cocktail, and Omg I am in love! The supervisor, Zach, came up to us to make sure we were satisfied. We felt so special! :D He also introduced us to Grace, the fun bartender! Everyone is so nice and friendly around here that the names just stick to you! Definitely will be a regular here!

Went here for the first time last night with two girlfriends because they were offering a special discounted menu for restaurant week. First impression was great, loved the decor and mood of the lounge area. However, I was HIGHLY disappointed with the food. It was a pre-set menu so I would have thought they'd pick out their best items and do them well. However, the cheese plate had stale bread and mediocre cheese selections and the main course of sea bass was cold and had fish bones in it I had to pick around. The cheesecake dessert was great, but then again cheesecake is always pretty great. Service was also lacking...we asked one waitress to take a photo of us because we were celebrating my recent engagement, and she totally blew us off. Finally, I woke up in the middle of the night terribly sick to my stomach which I think had something to do with the food :/ Over all would not go back to this place for food...maybe drinks only in the lounge. Overpriced for quality of food and service.

Bomb dot com. Good place to get a proper bite. Good appetizers, solid entrees. Montana was a great, decor a little "Vegas" but still great place

Went to the Silver Trumpet for first time before Segerstrom event. Found on OpenTable where reviews were mixed. The restaurant was not busy; we were warmly greeted and shown to a nice table for two upon entering. Everyone was gracious, and drink orders went in promptly. They did not have Beefeaters gin but drinks were generous arriving while getting into the menu so time to enjoy and not be rushed. We settled on the price-fixe menu which was recommended for pre-theater but also turned out to be a very good value at $40 per person. We had a nice salad, well prepared and fresh but missing the gorgonzola cheese listed. Very tasty. Next, we tried the filet which were prepared as specified - not over or under done. The steak was plated on a squash splash with a side of sauteed cauliflower - also well done. Portions were good - not too big and not too small. Desserts were a daily chocolate dish and pumpkin cheesecake - included and both nice. The bill came with time to cross the street to the theater at a leisurely pace. The bill was less that at any of the proximate restaurants to Segerstrom being 10-25% less than Leatherby's, Scott's or Pinot Provence for similar meals. The access to Segerstrom was really easy - just across the street - and leaving after the event was the best part about the location. After the performance, we had a short walk across the street, our car was parked close to the entrance to the garage, we exited with no line of cars and were on Sunflower in moments - very easy and a real perk. All in all, a very nice experience before the theater and something we will do again. It is well worth your trying out.

Came here for dinner the other night and from the second I walked in I felt welcomed. Our servers name was John and he was delightful and very knowledgeable of the menu. We started with couple appetizers my favorite being the Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese! #yum! The Pork Belly Sliders were amazing and the Cheese Plate was Delish. For our main course we ordered the Seared Salmon with Wild Rice and Baby Bok Choy and a Grilled NY Steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. For desert we had a Key Lime Panna Cotta and the Chocolate Ganache #Drool. Mario, the Manager came to the table to greet us and also is a somalier so his recommendation for wine was spot on. After this incredible dinner with outstanding service we headed into the bar for a night cap. I tried the Jalapeño infused tequila wooooweeee that was undoubtedly one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Over all the experience was unforgettable. I will be back! Kudos to the chef, all the food and presentation of the food was superb a 5 star rating for sure!

Found this gem last minute in meeting someone for drinks. The bar and lounge area are very up to date and Antonio our bartender carried good conversation while still be attentive to everyone else. This place will definitely get out into the after work happy hour rotations.

Staying at the wyndham avenue of the arts hotel. Came down to the silver trumpet which is attached to the hotel. Enjoyed their 4-7 happy hour. Great food and drink for reasonable price. Sliders and ribs were good. Music could be more relaxing...no techno. Service was great!

Food is super! Too bad the staff are so rude. Brian was our server. Not overly helpful, attentive, or friendly. John was the manager and he's even worse! Condescending and not polite our customer service oriented at all. And the A.C. sucked. Won't come back. What a waste. Food was good!

Happy hour binge. Tacos and sliders were good. The rest was faux nice. You know what I mean; good looking ingredients but lacking in flavor. Looks more like a late hour hotspot. Very trendy. Good place for "girls night out" is at least what it seems they are going for. The restaurant might be better for food, but I was disappointed all around, and won't be giving it a second chance. To many other home runs right next door.

Came here on Saturday as my friend was staying next door at the Wyndham hotel for the OC Marathon. The hotel had advertised for marathoners specials at the restaurant, so we decided to eat dinner here. As we entered we waited about 5 min before we asked if we could be seated, although the place was empty, only two tables filled, they ignored us until we asked to be seated. Once seated we asked for the Marsthon special menu, our server never heard of this, apparently management forgot to tell the servers they had specials for this night as seen when you check in from the Host hotel adjacent. So instead of investigating our server only told us about the nightly special. My sliders as appetizer was good, although the pasta was not, over cooked. Services was terrible. And he cheesecake was still frozen from the freezer. Would never go back! Gross

I ate here today, I have to say I have mixed feelings. I will go by the whole thing step by step. Service - Our server was really nice. He came, took our orders, was decently attentive, was polite. I can't really complain anything about him. Food - I ordered a glass of Pinor Noir, a soup and burger with side salad. Pinot Noir - Excellent wine, I don't know a lot about wine but this was an excellent vintage. It's definitely not the two buck chuck I normally drink. Soup - It never came, seriously, I ordered soup so did two other people at the table and mine never came. This is a big restaurant and my soup never came. Was this like Fight Club or something? Was there something it the soup that the waiter was saving me from? I don't know, but it never came. Burger - The burger came, it was very good. It came with fries, I ordered it with salad and it came with fries. Normally I don't think I would think so much about this, but when you are in an establishment that is the quality of this place - you expect them to get your orders correct. One mistake I could look over, but two giant gaping mistakes like this? Maybe if this was in-n-out I would look over this, but not for this place. I'm not sure what to say, but this place really isn't up to par for the price and setting that it is in.

Happy hour 5-7 and 930-close. Sliders and the delicious short rib tacos are $2.50 each and you can have as many as you like per order. Great drink prices also - $8 cocktails, normally $12, means a 1/3 off discount for happy hour. The servers are super friendly. The decor is very upscale, with a color changing backlit bar, lit from underneath bar surface, and white couches. A beautiful place to hang out and converse with friends. If you sit outside, you face the lake (except for a few tables), which is great.

Sadly, my recent visit to this place was not on par with the others. My wife, her friend, and I all decided to visit for Sunday brunch. The website details a lovely brunch menu, so we decided to try it for the first time. (We live adjacent, so it was just a short walk, and I pass it on the way home every day and wonder about it...) When we arrived, we see a sign on the sidewalk stating "Try our Weekend Brunch, 7AM-2PM". Being that it was just before noon, I took that as a green light. We were seated immediately, and hardly anyone else was in the place.(DANGER!) The waitress informed us that they were doing a buffet style brunch. We asked if they had menus, and we were told that they had a lunch menu available, if we wanted to order something from that - but they were doing brunch currently. The brunch was $19.99 per person, and consisted of standard type continental breakfast items. Scrambled eggs, some remnants of shredded cheese, fried potatoes, bacon, sausage, and french toast pieces, along with assorted danishes, cereal boxes and toast. The buffet line was about 12 feet long, and was out of plates, leaving us and another couple waiting until someone brought them out. After asking two waiters, finally a stack was brought out. It was only a minute or two, but still - with 10 people in the restaurant, you would think that serving them would be job one. The food was mediocre, warm (not hot) and basically on par for a hotel continental breakfast (think Motel 6 type), For the $74 tab for three of us, I felt like I should have at least got a reach around from the management before leaving. Good news, they offer a bottomless Bloody Mary for $10 with unlimited refills, or a regular Bloody Mary for $10. That's nearly exactly how they pitched it, for whatever reason. I would assume from the other reviews - that the happy hour and dinner services are better. The simple fact that they have a website with the wrong menu option is annoying, but stacked up with the poor execution, equals me, not wasting my time or money there again.

The lounge area was sooo beautiful and girly I love it. Pink, purply neon lights and bar area with nice couches and chairs. SUPER CUTE. It's kind of funny to see men sit in those zebra bar stools though. This place is definitely a perfect place for you and your girlfriends to grab a couple of drinks and small plates after dinner. For Happy hour, house wine plus well drinks was only $5 bucks and the food items with the trumpets signs next to them. We had the habanero honey wings, sliders, tacos, calamari. When the calamari came out, it looked like chicken......I was super confused eating them because it tasted bland and rubbery.......then we re-read the menu and it was GRILLED calamari...Not my favorite. The Habanero Honey wings were really tasty, I love the sauce, it wasn't too spicy BUT as I finished the first wing, to my horror there was pinkness underneath!! Gordon Ramsey would blow his shit here if he saw under-cooked CHICKEN! "WHY the bloody hell are you serving chickens that are still walking to the guests?!!" So the waitress was super nice and gave us the new plate of wings. I still liked the sauce very much. Sliders was good but nothing special, along with the tacos. OVERALL GREAT service!! Our waitress was attentive and that made the undercooked meat so much better,, Parking is validated immediately.

Booked Easter brunch here, and it's the worst buffet brunch experience I've ever had. We arrived at 1:30 and already pancakes were so dried out we couldn't cut through the edges. Bread was cold and stale. The ravioli and made to order omelettes were good, but they were out of prime rib and it took 45 min. for them to bring out more. My mom wanted vegetables but the broccolini, dried up and almost black, was not acceptable. The live music ended early as well. Desserts were reasonably good. Two stars are for the staff who responded positively to our issues. The host went back to the kitchen for fresh vegetables and comped one of our meals.

Great ambience and happy hour! We decided to dine here tonight before our concert at the Segerstrom Concert Hall. Didn't even know this restaurant was here until it was recommended by one of the doormen. Great service and food isn't too bad either.

This newly-opened (about 6 months, we were told) bar is sleek, cool, and contemporary, decorated in whites, silvers, and purples. I enjoyed the contemporary white swivel chairs! Happy Hour is served 4 - 7 P.M., with (selected) cocktails and appetizers reasonably priced at $5; we discovered not all menu items applied when our bill arrived (unless we were wrongly overcharged for drinks). We were advised against the Lobster Corndogs; instead, we ordered the Corn Cakes (tasty, but didn't hold their form, at all), as well as the Sliders ($2.50 each) and Scallops -- both of which we enjoyed. I could barely detect any spiciness in the Jalapeno Margarita; upon our server hearing my comment, she highly recommended a seasonal cocktail -- which I far more enjoyed! Service was GREAT! From the moment we were greeted in the restaurant and escorted to the bar by a manager (?), and throughout our entire stay, the staff we encountered made us feel welcomed and appreciated. They're eager to gain regulars. Parking is conveniently located, in the parking structure -- and tickets are validated. Fun experience!

Charlie Palmer is my favorite spot for HH but since Silver Trumpet is only one block away and their HH is till 7 so I decided to try this new restaurant Only two words to describe my experience: VERY DISAPPOINTED There was 3 or 4 out of 12 cocktails they couldn't make it cause of running out of ingredients. The server suggested The Headliner. OMG it must be my worst cocktail ever. The food quality is mediocre to poor. Only spicy chicken wings are ok. The flat bread ($10) was small, cold, and hard. Grilled Squid had fishy smell, Salad was average. Come back? Probably Not

We planned a birthday dinner for 20 people at this hotel restaurant. The decor is beautiful. If I could rate the decor only I would give it 5 stars. Also if I could rate the bar /lounge area I would give it 5 stars. First...the reservation was made 2 weeks in advance for 3 pm with the restaurant manager. Then I got a call that I never told him what time my group was coming. HELLO! Ummm how do you make a reservation and get confirmation without a time! He then told me hat they don't open for dinner until 5pm. So I had to tell all my guests 2 days before the party that the time was changed. I had cupcakes that were brought in. The waiter said it was fine to do so. But when our check came we were charged a $20 cake cutting fee. The waiter should have informed me of this prior! Also they did not even bring forks or plates to justify charging us the cake fee. The restaurant manager apologized for not bringing plates and forks but then did not remove the fee. How do you apologize for bad service and then continue to charge us anyway. Now to the food...I had the burrata cheese salad. It was good but it was supposed to have a fig vinegarette, however it was only a balsamic and olive oil dressing. The fig was missing all together. It was still a good salad though. The birthday girl had the filet with roasted broccoli and cauliflower...which was delicious. Two guests had the lobster Mac and cheese, which was so awful it had to be sent back. It was corkscrew pasta served with some kind of cream sauce. What Mac and cheese is served with corkscrew pasta instead of macaroni? That's what the 'Mac' in Mac n cheese stands for...macaroni! Now for the bar/lounge. This part was great. Our food took so long that I went to the bar to look around and ordered a drink and their habanero honey wings! My drink was great and so was the bartender! We should have had the bday party in there! The music was great and my wings came way before my food arrived in the dining room, plus it was happy hour! I will return to the bar only, never again the dining room! I wrote a letter to the supervising restaurant manager, Sloan, and I will post a new comment and review when I get a response. The food and poor service of the dining room was the cause of this 2 star rating

First time at the silver trumpet lounge. I live next door but i had never come in based on friends who had bad experiences. their happy hour pricing was to good to not give it a try. The bartenders were fun and friendly, drinks were good and the pork belly burgers were amazing. The manager even gave me a free drink card for next time. Ill definitely be back

Quick summary: food 4 drinks 1 Tapas, very good value during happy hour (around $5 each). The seafood dishes in general was done very well; so were the spicy wings. Cocktails: SUCK. Sure it's only $5, but that's no excuse to water it down till it's barely blackberry juice. I would recommend this: the view alfresco is good, but if you go too early, the sun is pretty harsh, and umbrella spots are limited.

My best friend had a reception here. While the place is nice, I just wasn't impressed. Maybe it's because I'm always confused by places like the Silver Trumpet Bistro. They have no identity. They seem to use the term "bistro" as an apology for serving mundane food items like chicken wings and tiny pork tacos. On their own, the food items are good, but together in a restaurant covered in chrome, dark walnut veneer, and glass, they just don't make any sense. Here's my recommendation on the STB, if you're an old lady wanting a hip place to hang out with your cougar girlfriends or a rural Kentuckian on a vacation to "LA," the Silver a trumpet is a must do. But, if you like to eat excellent food in an interesting atmosphere in a place that has an identity and purpose, it's a definite must avoid.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed! It was great! The service was very professional and personable. The food was even better. We started with the giant prawns and they were truly giant. I had the salmon and my wife had the Filet medallions. Then we shared a dessert. It was a great anniversary dinner! We will be going back.

They sat us outside and then basically forgot about us. We told them that we were going to the theater and asked if we had enough time. They said yes. I tell you--they cut it really close! Being the only couple out on the patio is not a good thing, if you want good service. it was chilly and they sat us next to one of those horizontal heaters (with a flame). After a half-hour (or less) it went out. They did not offer to relight it. On top of this, it started to drizzle slightly and no one came out to move one of the umbrellas over our table--I had to move one myself. They are heavy! I'll probably not return to this place.

I had the greatest evening at the Bar at Silver Trumpet last week! The manager, Sloan, helped our party pick out superb bottles of wine, and told us all about the regions, the growing practices, etc...a true Sommelier! He was great - which made our experience great. Aside from that, we ordered some sliders which were quite tasty. The atmosphere is very laid back and classy at the same time. It was perfect - we stayed all night!

Starting with the positives: The food was good and so was the wine. Our server and one of the busboys were very friendly. Negatives: Hostess talking to bartender when we walk in. Turns around and says "Oh, can I help you." with a total stinkface (if you read this with a valley girl accent you're on point and in her defense maybe she was holding a fart). She leads us to the hostess stand in the center (there are 3) and we get sat. Our waiter was not well trained. Lacked wine knowledge and seemed extremely uncomfortable/nervous. Another server (overheard he's from Jersey but not his name) comes by to drop off a glass of wine later in evening and yells out "Who got the cab?" while making no eye contact (had he taken the time to look it should have been obvious where that was going at a 2 top where only one person has a full glass in front of them). Finishes gracing our table with a "You enjoy that." Thanks, I guess? Ordered soup, salad, and the filet mignon along with a few glasses of wine. Soup and salad took quite a while and I started getting concerned that they would all arrive together. I was partially wrong. The steak came out 5 minutes later while we were still starting our appetizers. They just dropped it and went on their way / didn't address the fact they just sat our meal down to get cold due to their error in timing. The decor is awful. Feux gold-flaked marble mirrored walls (seriously?) in the dining area are not only disgusting to look at but make for the absolute worst acoustics I've ever come across. Could barely hear my fiance, but I could hear every darn word the tables around me said. This may have caused our server to bring an extra glass of the wrong wine, forget to order the dates we asked for and almost mistake my request for my filet to be medium rare for medium well (thank goodness he said it out loud so I could correct him). Given other high ranking are coming from breezies who spell the word night "nite" and another who gives 4 stars to restaurants that serve undercooked chicken I think I'm going to need to scrutinize this more moving forward. BTW - having your own "private" restaurant at 7PM isn't cool unless you rented the place out. Being empty like this is a sign that they suck and are currently luck to survive based on their attachment to the Westin and proximity to the performing arts center. First, and last visit that I'll be making there. Might be the last time I try a new restaurant to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion.

I can't really tell you about the food because after two hours and 15 minutes we were never served. We did get an appetizer after an hour, but after we questioned the server and the managers when our dinner would be arriving nothing ever showed up. So I can't give any positive review - don't here if you're hungry because you'll never be served!

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in the South Coast Plaza area. Ordered a filet mignon medium rare and it came out more like beef jerky. Servers were not friendly and didn't seem to know what they were doing. We had a large party and they did not seemed equipped to handle us. Won't be going back!

Kudos to the Trumpet who won me serious brownie points with the Mrs.! I called and made a reservation and explained that my wife and I would be coming in for our anniversary before going to the ballet. I told the person on the phone that it was an extraordinarily momentous occasion as not only was it our anniversary but my wife just passed the Bar exam the week prior so it was kind of an all in one celebration it was also our first anniversary since moving to California, so I must have sounded kind of anxious. It wasn't 10 minutes and I got a phone call from the manager Slone. He said he was informed of our reservation for that evening and wanted to know if I had any requests or if I wanted anything special. I told him that we didn't need any special treatment (he had mentioned champagne or wine) but I told him our funds were a little tight at the moment, and we weren't looking to spend anything more than just a nice meal before the show. He was very kind and thanked us for choosing to dine there for our special night. Upon arriving to the restaurant, we were taken to a table in the bar that had a reserved sign on it. When our server handed us our menus I thought at first, "how could this menu be so small?" It was only after looking at the top did I realize it had our names on it welcoming us. They had made us a special menu with everything pre selected!!!! Slone came shortly after and poured us champagne, which was irritating since I specifically told him that we couldn't afford to splurge that much. Right when I was about to stop him and say something he explained that the silver trumpet was so honored to have us that they would be taking care of our bill that night. I of course objected, but he insisted saying that it was important to the restaurant that we have a great experience. He said we deserved it. We had a delicious salad to start, and then some dates and scallops that were to die for! For the entree we both chose filets and they were decadent. Through all of these courses Slone personally provided wine pairing and served them himself. The wine and food was spectacular. It was honestly the best dining experience I've ever had and was the perfect precursor to the ballet. Once my wife and I are back on our feet, we will definitely be back and repaying the kindness that was shown to us. My tip is to ask for Slone- he will make your night a memorable one.

As you can see- I've never posted a review on yelp, (my first, yay!) but after eating here this past Friday night, I felt compelled to say something. My husband and I are season ticket holders at the performing arts center across the street and have been dining here for about 1 1/2 years now. I will say that it seems like over the past six months the service, food quality and consistency have dramatically increased. This evening in particular we tried their bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Spanish sausage and Manchego cheese sitting on top of a maple chipotle sauce, and I must add that this dish was simply mouthwateringly delicious. I've had them at other places in the past, but these were just GOOD- certainly not your run-of-the-mill date! (my husband wasn't too shabby of a date either ;) hehe!) For my entree, I had the salmon. Fan-friggin-tastic. The server said it was sushi grade from Canadian waters and you definitely could tell! So fresh and perfectly cooked. Bravo Silver Trumpet and a great many compliments to your cooking staff!! You're quickly moving in the direction of being our favorite place to eat.

Came here for lunch as its Costa Mesa restaurant week. I have never heard of this place. So I was looking forward to trying it. Located off Anton and Avenue of the stars and next to the Windham hotel. Plenty of parking and they validate. The restaurant is fairly large and decorated very nicely with musical instruments on the walls as well as great B&W photographs of famous musicians. The restaurant features farm to table which is great as you get to taste the freshest of ingredients. They have a outdoor patio area but we chose to eat indoors looking out to the wonderful view. The lunch menu looked really good. I went with the following: Orange Blossom Glazed Quail Sweet Potato Hummus ~ yelp.com/biz_photos/gAOZ… This was a really great starter dish. The quail had a great mild glaze which was not overly sweet. Meat was tender and juicy. The sweet potato hummus was a great combination with the quail. Papardelle Pasta, Wild Mushrooms, Heirloom Tomatoes, Asparagus, Prosciutto di Parma, Butter Sauce ~ yelp.com/biz_photos/gAOZ… I had been craving carbs so this dish was calling my name! The fresh papardelle was really good in the creamy butter sauce. All of the ingredients married well together. Poached Pear Sherry and Anise, Raspberry Goat Cheese Créme ~ yelp.com/biz_photos/gAOZ… Hmm this was one dish I didn't care for much. The pear was poached in balasamic vinegar and as you can tell from the picture it was poached too long and the pear took on too much of the vinegar. I'm not much of a goat cheese but I did have a taste of the creme and it was pretty good. The place was not busy at all which seemed odd being that their 3 course menu for lunch was only $20.12. I would definitely come back here as I truly enjoyed my meal here Eyes ~ Very nice restaurant, beautifully plated food! Nose ~ Smells nice! Ear ~ Quiet as there was very little people dining. Mouth ~ Really good! Tummy ~ A satisfying lunch!!! .

The food was all excellent, but the service was incredibly slow. The servers were nice, but it took us 2 hours to get through a two course dinner (no appetizers, just entrees and deserts). They brought us some free desserts at the end to apologize for the slow speed, but that doesn't quite change the experience. Still, it may have just been an off night, and every dish we ordered was great, so I would go back.

Drinks are great! -- I've tried 5 of them there. Food was also really good! Sliders, tacos... yum. The habanero-honey wings were definitely unique, but super, super sweet and I didn't taste ANY spice at all. Hamburger meat quality, I'd give 8 out of 10. Overall, very good food, excellent presentation, nice place, great drinks! I'm going back :)

Had dinner here Friday 8/30/13 and returned after our wedding with all our friends and cousins on 9/1/13. Both times we had an outstanding experience. The dinner was on a quiet Friday evening and I couldn't help but notice how beautifully designed and decorated the restaurant is after the recent remodel. Our meal was delicious and the service was impeccable. I called the bar manager the week of my wedding and informed them that after my wedding ended across the street at the Center Club I wanted to move the party to their bar. Although they normally close at 11pm they agreed to stay open and schedule staff to accommodate us. I was so grateful to the bar manager for being so open to the idea and willing to work with us. I would say about 30 if not more of us ended up there so I'm sure it was worth their while to stay open that extra hour or two to quench our continued thirst for libations not to mention some hotel guests were still in there too and mingling with our group. I have to give the staff major props for keeping up with our drink orders. There were a lot of us and we are all fairly serious drinkers so I'm sure they didn't have time to scratch their noses in between making drinks and processing payments. The bar itself post remodel is beautiful and offers various seating options including an outdoor patio! I am grateful to the Silver Trumpet bar for staying open to accept us and for hosting some of the fondest memories of our wedding night with some of our most favorite people in the world :)

Silver Trumpet is a beautifully design space. It's in amazing location next to Hotels and Art Center and it's always empty. OK maybe not always but 3 times I was there it was empty. They have a very small bar area so if they have 20 people in it looks festive. Outside area is really pretty and very inviting. Guys serving drinks are very professional bartenders. The guy who is either manager or part owner is just ridicules. I'm sure he thinks he's very funny (he laughs out loud after every sentence) but he's just obnoxious and boorish. He should calm down a little and try to be charming not funny. I know, it's a gift. Food: poor quality and very bad presentation. Drinks: pretty good They need to hire different chef and offer more appetizing dishes. Also, guys, you need to market this place or you going to be out business.

I'm a person about trying new restaurants, so despite my fellow Yelpers' reviews, I booked a party here after a theatrical performance at the Segestrom. I figured it's worth trying to discover a new eatery around the theatre. I'm accustomed to restaurant theatres (especially when listed on the theatre website) having an accomodating schedule. The restaurant, within the Wyndham Hotel, was listed not to open until 5pm. Sunday matinee performances usually get out around 3pm. Thus, I called to see if the restaurant would accomodate us. I very much appreciated working with Brandi, a hostess at The Silver Trumpet. She assured that the restaurant would open for us for brunch. Thus I booked my group of 12 to defy the Yelp postings. We arrived after the performance to a wonderfully welcoming venue. Brandi was there with a smile, walking us to a table classically set for 12. We ended up with a group of 10, but they seemed ready. SEEMED being the key word. We got prompt beverage service, ordered our food, then waited...and waited...and waited...and waited. Literally, if I wasn't with a group, I would have gone elsewhere. We waited THAT long. But again, as we were a group, we chatted. But my friends weren't so forgiving. They did not have the brunch menu available as expected. Thus, we had to order off of the dinner menu. My friends hated the chicken and waffles (Why does every locale think they can be Roscoe's?). But the place looked to fancy to know how to successfully pull off this dish. They ended up with tasteless chicken fingers and Belgian waffle squares. Another got the salmon--the best dish on the tabel. Someone got soup and salad, the safe choice. Etc. Altogether, a forgettable experience. Sigh. Well, at least we've been here and done it.

3 stars may be generous but it wasn't horrible just not what I expected from reviews. We are in the dining room not lounge so that may be the issue. Had we not come through the hotel and seen the lounge first we might be better off. The dining room was empty 7pm Saturday night. The acoustics are terrible so we could hear every word being said. If people stopped talking it was eerily quite. This is a major problem when you're trying to enjoy a nice dinner with conversation. Music? Food was ok. The menu on yelp doesn't exist do not go by that. This menu was not exciting. I got beet and goat cheese salad which was huge, lots of beets one tiny tiny bite of goat cheese which made it not worth the $ I say don't bother unless you don't care about cheese. Who doesn't care about cheese ? Butternut squash ravioli was ok, pretty flavorless and the sauce was just ok. (The best is La opera in long beach FYI). Bread was yummy, tiny bites so you can have several :). Half basket was fruit cake looking thing and half olive bread. Check in for free dessert which looked good but I was full on bread so I saved it. I'll try the lounge for happy hour but won't be back to the main dining room. Probably good for old theater crowd.

Myself and 3 others had dinner before a show. The ambience was pleasant and that's the nicest thing I can say about the Silver Trumpet , the experience was a nightmare. The service was awful, they appeared to be understaffed and all appeared to be confused. A Prix Fixe menu should be pretty easy. But... Drinks took forever and were made wrong. The food was terrible and took forever to arrive. Cheap ingredience and flavorless. Forget trying to get a server to your table.

I've only been to Silver Trumpet for HappyHr. It's everyday from 4-7pm, and then 9:30pm to close. All well drinks are $5, beers $4? The appetizers are pretty cheap too, $5 or less. Burrata beet salad - pretty good! Burrata was really creamy. I'd like them to add more beets, and less dressing. Probably the best thing on HH menu Habanero Honey chicken wings - big meaty wings, sauce is sweet with a kick Grilled calamari - OK, a lil bit too tangy for my liking Sliders - typical sliders, nothing special The bar area decor is super chic and cute! Reminds me of a lounge. They also have outdoor seating which is nice for big parties. The service is always really good, and they validate your parking (shares the same parking structure as Wyndham).

Even while undergoing renovation, the restaurant has the look and ambiance of a cool and hip spot. It's modern and intimate and even boasts an awesome patio. It would be a great place to hang out on a summer evening if the food was up to par. Unfortunately, that wasn't the experience for me and my two dining companions. Sadly, we weren't impressed with any of the food and we sampled plenty. The corn cakes were bland. They reminded me of soggy cornbread, except I'm used to cornbread with flavor. I liked the idea of them...a little different for an appetizer...but the taste wasn't there. The soup of the day was cream of mushroom. It was also bland, very disappointing because I was craving a good soup. For my entree, I ordered the turkey burger. It was far too salty and not enjoyable at all. My coworker ordered a pasta dish and also felt that it was too heavily seasoned. The third entree was a salmon salad that was said to be "ok." Due to the lackluster meals, we didn't want to take a gamble on dessert. Overall, the service was decent. Despite the cool vibe, I probably won't return. This place is all about appearance with no substance.

Service was great! Manny was sweet & attentive. Food was just ok. Beet & Goat Cheese Salad had barely any goat cheese & dressing was not tasty. Pork chop overcooked. Peach upside down cake was delicious.

I'm surprised that all the reviews for this gem are not 5 stars. Validated parking, great views, great happy hour food and prices, and the decor is stunning. Also, across the street from the performing arts center where it's rumored the cast from the show hang after a performance. What's not to like? Sitting in those big white chairs with all the mirrors everywhere made me feel like a Hollywood star. It was a bit of a rush. And I so like that feeling.

I stayed at the avenue of the arts wyndham hotel last weekend for a "staycation"and went to the Silver Trumpet for almost all of my meals. My favorites were the steel cut oatmeal (amazing consistency), honey habanero wings, the burger, and I also had a pasta dish with shrimp that was really good but I cannot name it. The food is only complimented by the level of service offered and I could not have been happier with my experiences. Thank you silver trumpet, I will definitely be back!

We weren't planning to eat here but our waiter was so awesome, we ended up staying! I had the grilled shrimp penne with marinara and I have to say the shrimp was grilled to perfection and went perfectly with the pasta. The hubs had a pepper crusted filet with fries and asparagus and that, too, was delicious....this place truly exceeded our expectations. Best part, we just walk to our room afterwards!! Now, I'm just waiting for the cheesecake with berries....YUM!

'Hidden gem' really is the exact right phrase for this favorite little spot with great design and tasty favorites. I've done brunch, lunch, happy hour and dinner here--all great. What's not to like, friends? Silver Trumpet features an elegant main restaurant room with small private dining space, as well as a full trendy bar area--each side with its own dedicated patio, making this a killer venue to divide and use for a private event. While the restaurant patio is perfect for a sunny, lakeside lunch with co-workers (as I've done), the bar patio is ideal for a happy hour circle-up to enjoy bevs and small plates. Had great fun on both occasions, and always fun to use the different spaces in ways that suit them individually. Everyone I've taken here becomes a fan! One note about weekend brunches--with its close proximal location to the Segerstrom Center, it can be busy before a weekend matinee performance at Segerstrom Hall. With the main restaurant full of pre-theater patrons, we simply asked to dine in the bar space, and had attentive and personal service with the room to ourselves. Brunch for us that week was the full regular plated brunch menu (including the bottomless bloody / mimosa offer others have mentioned below), but I've never heard of them offering a small brunch buffet in lieu of a full menu. I call shenanigans on that. ST also offers a late-nite happy hour that I definitely want to come back and try after a show at SCFTA. Regular meal prices are a touch elevated (but better than anything else you'll find for value in a hotel's in-house restaurant), and happy hour pricing is great. Nice place, strong value, good service and convenient but secluded location? For me, it's a hit.

We tried the Silver Trumpet for Costa Mesa restaurant week. The place has a nice decor and good happy hours menu but the food on the pre-fix dinner for restaurant week was very disappointing. I ordered the steak and my friends ordered the sea bass. The food was tasteless, no flavor at all. The desserts was even worse. The tres leche cake was dry. The chief might have forgotten the leche. The only good thing about the place was that they validated our parking.

Had a quick drink in the bar. The lemon drop martini was fantastic at the happy hour price of $8.00 for a happy hour drink. Tuna tartare which is full of flavor. This is a great location when coming to see a show at the Segersrom Haul ....will definitely be back.

I got married at the Wyndam and due to the staff losing my stuff from the wedding, they gave me two gift vouchers for 3 course dinner and 3 buy one get one free drink tickets. Everything here is really expensive and food is not up to par with the price. For the amount of money you would spend here you could go to your favorite steakhouse and get amazing food for that price. Drinks are about $11-15 for a cocktail. Ouch. Small drinks that are watered down. We came back because we had another voucher but was disappointed the second time as well. The service was excellent though and restaurant is beautiful which is the only reason why this review even deserves any stars. Such a disappointment because if the food was good we would definitely come back here on our anniversary so we could reminisce about our wedding.

Walked into the bar on a Wednesday night. Three men behind the bar and one server on the floor. We were not acknowledged by anyone. Finally went up and asked about happy hour. We were told to sit anywhere. Clearly the direct sun hitting all of the outside tables and half of the inside was a problem, but no one seemed to want to offer us any solutions. Finally figured out on our own where three of us could sit. We reviewed the happy hour priced appetizers which frankly were heavy on carbs and very light on protein. So we decided we would just have dinner in the dining room instead. When we asked for a table, the server said she would "put our name in", though we could clearly see a nearly empty dining room. By this time the vibe in the place had put all of us off so much that we started to discuss where we could go instead. It was my birthday, so just making do was not an option. We wanted a comfortable atmosphere with some interesting food choices. And that was not happening at Silver Trumpet. We left and went down the street to the Lab and found the perfect spot! We live within walking distance of the Silver Trumpet, so we were very disappointed that this turned out to be a place we will never go back to.

Checked this place out for the first time lady week with a girlfriend for happy hour. I have to admit, I was nervous walking in at how empty it was.... But after our great customer derive and yummy drinks- I was pleased! Great environment... Very chic. Great drinks... $8 for HH and some apps were $5. Only reason they get four stars and bit five is the food. The tenderloin bites were AMAZING but not on the HH menu:( the ceviche was ehh... And street tacos were good but slightly over priced for the size.

Well, I ate here about a dozen times as I spent two weeks at the Wyndham, so the novelty of the gorgeous interior and fancy decorations wore off after a week or so, but the food is pretty damn good, even if it is a little pricey. I think the portions are just small- if they were a little larger, I could see paying more. The steak medallions are tiny tiny tinyyyyyyyyy, but delicious, so I paid $20 for about five bites of meat. The chicken and avocado is also good, but as I said before, the portions are a bit small. The menu is tiny as well, so I had the chicken and steak about three times each, and the consistency of the size/quality/preparation of the foods just wasn't there. It was never bad, but the lack of consistency was odd. One day the steak portion seemed so tiny I almost sent it back. But then I was starving so I ate it and it was too delicious for me to whine. Basically, this place would be five stars if their chefs cooked the dishes the same way every time.

A lovely classy restaurant decorated in good taste. And Manny, our server was a delight. However food was only mediocre.A charcuterie plate was skimpy and served with crackers instead of bread. The sole was properly cooked but devoid of any flavor. In all likelyhood it came right out of the freezer.Furthermore it was served in a mish-mush pile of vegetables and corn.Very unattractively plated. What a shame. We could use another nice place for pre-theater dining, besides Leatherby,Pinot Provence and Scotts

Where to begin with the Silver Trumpet Bar! My first thought was I was gonna be bored but little did I know what was about to happen. My friend and I stayed at the hotel and decided to grab a drink before wrapping the night up, the silver trumpet bar was only a few steps away from our room! It was amazing! It was the BEST experience I've ever had at a bar! The bartenders were Patrick and Michael. Our first drink was a mojito and margarita and they were stupendous! I recommend giving the guys free rein and let then set you up with something amazing. For my second drink I wanted something with strawberry that's all I mentioned, and Patrick whipped up a great strawberry martini! For our last drink we wanted something with fruit in it so they served us a phenomenal drink with blueberries and raspberries and pineapple and it was the BEST drink I've ever had! He knew just what I wanted when I mentioned what I was in the mood for. Aside from the drinks Patrick and Michael are very personable, they work great together and have such inviting personalities. I felt welcomed and cared for and. To my understanding Michael is new, GREAT addition to the team! We will come back any day for the drinks but we will stay for the people! They are AMAZING guys!! Recommend this bar highly, you will not be disappointed

Went here before seeing a show at the segerstrom hall and it was amazing. The upper manhattan was delicious and Chris the bartender was fantastic. Super attentive and great conversation, not to mention the food was incredible. Best calamari I've ever had. Can't recommend enough!

Some of the reviews here were so inaccurate that I actually joined Yelp to contribute my review. In short, Silver Trumpet is a winner. Sure it has its downsides - the one that comes to mind is the really watered down & too gingery Moscow Mule that's not served in a copper mule mug. But really the food makes up for the so-so cocktails. The sliders are a MUST - no, really - they're awesome. In fact, my husband and I stopped by Silver Trumpet after a not-so-impressive dinner at Pizza Ortica just to wash down Pizza Ortica's mediocrity. One of the waiters there - Brandon! - is great. If you want great recommendations of the tastiest things on the menu, he is the one to ask. He's a real gem at theTrumpet. If you find yourself there for Happy Hour, try the grilled calamari too - not breaded, not fried, perfectly seasoned. Dinner menu looks great - fresh & healthy. Breakfast is no-frills - quick, delicious, and simple. The perfect start to a business day. If you're teetering on the edge of going to this place, stop. Just go!

Went for Costa Mesa restaurant week. Good selection for dinner. Had the cheese plate, they make their own Brie which was delicious. I didn't eat it all because I wanted to share with my BFF for girls night, we always have Brie. My steak was amazing!!!!! I got it perfectly well done and it was so juicy and delicious. Dessert however I would give 1 star .. Toffee cake was really dry, I mean dry. Wish I had something else. Service was great! Will come back and have the steak again and get something chocolate for dessert..

As a local you have to deal with plenty of tourists, but this place is a secret location many forget about. Food is excellent - high prices but that is expected in a hotel. But you can almost always get a table or sit at the bar.

Silver Trumpet! What a disappointment! We wanted to treat ourselves to a Saturday brunch. The location looked promising and so did the decor. Sterile but pretty. The place was fairly empty so we asked to sit at a larger table by the window. We were told NO, we could have a regular table. Ok... The Brunch menu was very plain- oatmeal, pancakes, omelet, sandwiches, etc. I was expecting that the quality and presentation will compensate. We got an omelet and a stack of eggplant. The first one was very plane and came with a small fruit cup- Denny's would be a better omelet. I had to remind to bring home potatoes listed in the menu. The other dish was nice and tasted OK. We got our bill before we had a chance to order desert, we ordered a Key Lime Cake ( good but just cut from a frozen cake) and Creme Brule which had a consistency of pancake batter with caramelized top. It looked and tasted awful. The service was barely sufficient. Paid over $60 for breakfast. Will never go there again. Why do hotel restaurants don't care about their clients? Not all customers live far away and never come back. Some try the place and never come back because the place is overpriced for the quality of food they offer. We were very disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise and great find! I purchased a Living Social for about $60 for dinner for two. We dined on a Friday and chose the patio seating. The space is beautiful and the server was very attentive. There was zero attitude when the voucher was presented as is so often the case. It included one appetizer to share, two entrees (up to $32 each), a dessert each and an alcoholic beverage each. Great deal! We tried the burrata beet salad (good, a tad under-dressed); the filet (tender, delicious, cooked as ordered) and the butterscotch budino (fantastic!) and another dessert that wasn't great - it was a pumpkin bread pudding that tasted neither like pumpkin or bread pudding. We had a house cocktail which was very tasty alog with some red wine -- also a great choice. I returned for lunch another day -- a different vibe but still a great place for a business meeting and the prices are very reasonable. We tried the beignet (fried donuts) for dessert and they are otherworldly. Worth every calorie. Highly recommend for dinner and lunch.

The hotel is very nice and the restaurant had good food. We had reservations and were set at a table near the front door, which lost some of the allure because people were constantly walking in and out. So no privacy. The only other bummer was my credit card was charged twice. When I got my statement I called and reported the problem. The lady told me it would take two days to look into it and someone would call me back. A week later with no contact from the Silver Trumpet I called again and talked to Zach who is a banquet manager. He was very polite and apologetic and said he'd call me right back. I got a call back within 10 minutes and said the duplicate charge had been reversed. I enjoyed the restaurant, just make sure to check your statement or pay in cash.

If you want to have your credit card charged for your food and someone one else's dinner on your credit card, this is the place to go!!! Three calls later, no, it was four calls later, with no one returning my calls, or crediting back my account for the additional dinner, I'd never return or trust this establishment again. Be sure to reconcile your credit card receipt purchases if you'd eaten here. Even their Manager promised to call me back after speaking with his bookkeeper, without an apology or a returned phone call. The server who took care of us was the absolute worst, Tetiana. Would I ever return, here again, NO WAY!!

I didnt actually even get to eat here. I wanted to order a dessert (they have it pre-made they told me this when i called) and he said I couldnt pick it up for an hour or more longer. They were too busy to cut a piece of cake and put it in a box. Just TOOOOO busy to cut a piece of cake and put it in a box. Sorry I still find it crazy on a tuesday night at 6:00 PM you cant cut a piece of cake and put it in a box less then an hour? Cant image what the service is like dining there lol. Never going to even try!

My wife and I ate at silver trumpet tonight before seeing a show at the performing arts center. Service was great and the manager at the door was very nice and talked to us throughout dinner. We will be sure to return soon. Next time we will save enough time for dessert!

A Wonderful time was had by all. Our after theater (Wicked) dinner was a total success! Stopped in the stunning bar before and enjoyed a fabulous selection of "bites" - don't miss the Lobster Corn Dogs- also, the peaches that were subbed-in for the figs in the Baked Figs really, in our foursome's opinion, have earned a regular spot on the carte! My wife and my sister both pronounced the Salmon a hit, fresh and perfectly set off by the Meyer Lemon sauce. Mom and I loved our Steak Medallions, the Dauphin-ISH potatoes were Too good! Dessert brought another array of impossible choices. I went with the Chef's daily whim - cheesecake with a taste of fudge, gelato and baked pear: Winning! Freshly made Benneigts (spelled wrong - but you get the idea) with fruit compote Excellent. All this fine dining was enhanced by a supremely attentive and skilled staff. We felt pampered! Don't wait, hurry to try this place Before it gets booked solid thru next year!

Have you ever been to a culinary school and tried their food? This is what it tastes like. Conceptually it works, on paper the dishes sound amazing but executed poorly. I know they are making the effort but they are trying to hard to be fine dining and they aren't. No one was in there and the service was very slow. We came here for Costa Mesa restaurant week: Starter: Lobster Pot Au Feu - Traditional and Untraditional Garnishes. This was the best dish all night. The lobster was slightly over cooked but the flavor was good. It was like the inside of a lobster pie. I thought it would come in a puff but it didn't. Entree: Grilled Filet - Paso Prime Grass fed Beef, Roasted Shallots, Twice Baked Potatoes, Cabernet Sauce - this tasted like something you could make at home on the bbq. The meat was overcooked and it had a baked potato and a side salad? nothing special. Dessert: Chocolate Souffle - With Chocolate Sauce. It was raw in the center! And why was it white? The souffle was not successful. They tried, so I guess I can give them a star for "trying." But really? if it wasn't for the meal being $30 bucks, I would have been pissed. Corkage $25!!! wtf?! This place is not worth that kind of corkage. Sorry.

We were staying at the Wyndham and decided to check out the Silver Trumpet. I'm not sure why we kept going... It seems as though the chefs aren't familiar with the menu and/or the waiters don't pay much attention to the customers especially since we had one vegetarian and one with severe food allergies in our party. Friday for late-night happy hour: Fire occurred at the bar, we had to evacuate, and they comped our drinks. Saturday for lunch- Got 2/4 orders wrong. The soup of the day (clam chowder) had chunks of ham/bacon in it so if you're vegetarian, beware (it was not explained on the menu). Chef added avocado to sandwich when my friend is highly allergic and requested no avocado. I requested dressing on the side of my salad, which also came out wrong. Sunday for brunch - $10 bottomless mimosas (you can't beat that price) except we had to constantly remind our server that our mimosas were empty. My vegetarian friend order the "Avenue of the Arts" omelette which listed spinach, goat cheese, mushrooms. The omelette came out with BACON on it and no goat cheese! After we sent it back, they made another one with the correct ingredients, but forgot the "cup of fresh fruit" for the 2nd time. The menu describes "fresh farm eggs"; their eggs were definitely FAKE. The bacon and sausage were absolutely disgusting. They even messed up my toast order! Another gal at our party ordered a hamburger, which came out 20 minutes later than everyone else's food. The waiter didn't even tell her where it was until we informed him that her meal with missing. They reportedly forgot her burger on the grill and burnt it so they had to remake it. Worst of all - they did NOT comp anything on the receipt!

Amazing!!!!! I have heard abt Silver Trumpet but had never gone. The service by (bartender)GRACE, was out if this world. She made my entire experience fabulous. I went to this bar with 2 for 1 drink cards. The first thing they did was say we could not use the cards only one. So we explained we were separate and then they would honor there own discount card. Then today I noticed they charges us $12 for a $9 glass of wine. So much for the discount. Then at 11:30 they said last call at 11:45 I went to bar at 11:42 and they said sorry bar closed. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the waitress was very nice and just a victim to her own rules

Debated whether ST deserved 3or4 stars....breakfast was outstanding. Service on point, food delicious ( eggs cooked to order, fruit fresh and sweet, pancakes decadent). Dinner was another story. Because we are not big eaters, we ordered salads and appetizers. Felt we were snubbed due to not ordering alcohol or big meals. Not crowded, so no excuse for not bringing check after trying to make eye contact. Very pleasant atmosphere and gorgeous weather for dining outside made our meals enjoyable despite the inattention of our server.

The Skinny: was blinded by the great Travelzoo deal and ended up paying for it... really Mickey D's would have served a better meal (1), service: okay but nothing special (3), when tears well up in your eyes because you may have eaten cat food, you know it's bad (1). As we walked out of the restaurant, my hubby quoted FDR, "A date which will live in infamy." Okay, I'll admit. I was blinded by a great travelzoo deal - two person, 3 course meal plus cocktails for $69. I researched the restaurant online and felt optimistic about the good reviews even though they appeared to be for brunch. I thought I was safe. But I forgot the main reason why they put up a travelzoo deal is because they desperately need the business. And I now know why. There was a bit of a bait and switch. Although they offered two signature cocktails with the meal but they don't tell you they'll only have one signature cocktail that evening: an apple ginger sangria. I think it's dishonest to call it a sangria especially since there was no fruit there and the mix was highly generic (think, Apple Hi-C). Plus, it was overly sweet. The appetizers: a seafood stew of sorts and a quail with spaetzle. The quail was overly smoky from the grill to the point of being burnt while the spaetzel, texturally was okay but bland, sat in some sort of undefinable clear liquid. The seafood starter tasted fine, but I was a little concerned that some of the mussels weren't open (a sign of off-shellfish). Then the entrees arrived and all hell came to fruition. I can hear the weeping of the Jidori Chicken that was sacrificed to make this dish. Visually, it was completely unappetizing. Who wants to eat a fried croquette with a dried out chicken bone sticking out of it like an odd Voodoo ritual? Tastewise, it didn't fare any better. Served on a bed of burnt gnocchi and sour vegetables, the skin was soggy while the breast was absolutely flavourless, anemic and dry. To top it off, the chicken croquette was weird, sour and had the unpleasant texture of deep fried cat food. The Berkshire Pork Chop was horrible too. Overly smoky, it was also surprising bland. It was also plated with some ?pulled pork underneath that had an unpleasant sour taste as well. The farro was overcooked, watery and underseasoned. Usually dessert will offer at least some redemption however that is not the case here. The Chocolate "Hedgehog" was the textural violation of the evening. I don't understand for the life of me how chocolate mousse can be served toothcrackingly hard but there you go. However, the crown jewel to top off the evening was the chocolate banana tart with peanut butter ice cream. From start to finish, there was nothing right about any components of the dish. From the sour chocolate ganache to the rapidly soupy/grainy texture of the Jiff peanut butter ice cream, it was completely unsalvagable. I was unfortunate enough to taste a bit of the chocolate tulle on top and immediately regretted it. It was bitter and had the aftertaste of what you'd imagine a Sharpie marker (or lighter fluid, take your pick) would taste like. I brushed and flossed my teeth 3 times and still couldn't erase that unpleasant flavour from my mouth. After the chocolate tart, I realized something - the Silver Trumpet has the rare ability to serve up something that is offensive to all five senses. Six if you include the regular sticker price. Overall, that's why this place gets a 1 starred review.

This place was such great fun! We are gluten and dairy intolerant the chef was receptive and helpful with menu choices. Ben was so much fun and very informative about the food drinks and area information about local color. We plan to return many times!

My wife and I stayed at the Avenue of the Arts for Valentine's Weekend. I also had reserved a table for us at the Silver Trumpet for their Valentine's Day Pre-fix menu. Both my wife and I agree that this was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. For $65/ea we received 5 courses, unlimited champagne and live jazz music. The choices per each course were also welcomed. She had a main entree of ravioli whereas I went for the prime rib. We loved the meal so much that we came back on Sunday morning for brunch. While our brunch was not as good as the dinner meal, they did comp my waffles as they took longer than expected to come out.

Worst old fashion I've ever had! Trying to hard to be a class act but just doesn't cut it. And the servers were raging, yelling at each other across the bar and throwing drinks down. Probably wouldn't be a pick in my future!

This place looked cool from the outside so decided to give it a try. We just came for drinks and they were out of some ingredients to make one of their specialty drinks. The service was pretty slow even though it wasn't that crowded. Other than that everything was good but not sure I would be back as it wasn't that impressive.

First the good: free parking validation for Performing Arts Center patrons when they dine at the Silver Trumpet. The posted rate is $23/day, ( a complete rip-off, in my opinion ), you get validated, and then can walk across the street to your concert. Now the Bad: I ordered the prix-fix menu, of petit filet. My wife ordered chicken. soon enough, her fish arrived. we sent it back, and waited another 20 minutes for the chicken. The beef was thick, red and kind of raw inside. To the chef, i would say, I am a person not a tiger. I cannot eat raw meat. When it comes to cooking meat, chef's better learn to cook it all the way through, or slice it thinner so it cooks all the way through. The pre-fix comes with other things, that were very good. After waiting a while for the chicken, it arrived and was kind of hastily prepared and kind of bland. It looked like hospital food, and tasted like hospital food. The fish that arrived earlier, did not look any better. Our waitress was clearly having a bad day, I could here her appologizing up and down to every other table in her section. As for a restaurant, I suspect that the Silver Trumpet has seen better days, perhaps, back in the 1990's when it was new, it would have been shinier. But now its old and tired, the interior needs a refreshing, it's menu needs a revamp. And it needs to add beer & mixed drinks to the drink menu. This place only appear to serve wine.

I'll start my review by saying that Silver Trumpet is now my favorite restaurant. I had been here a few years ago before the full remodel, and I must say WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE! It's no longer just a hotel restaurant. The place is beautiful and I loved the ambience. But, here is primarily why I'm so in love with this place....the food! We decided to order appetizers so that we can try several of their items: ~Sliders: you'll never try better sliders. There has to be a secret to these. They are on Hawaiian rolls so they have a soft/sweet taste but the secret has to be in the ingredients used in the meat. You will never go wrong when ordering these sliders...trust me! ~Tacos stuffed with fried portobello mushrooms and pineapple slaw. I'll share with you that I did not eat mushrooms until I had these. These little tacos are to die for! ~Skirt steak with achiote and corn puree. This steak was so tender that it almost dissolves at first bite. It was amazing. Then I thought it came with the typical mashed potatoes but I was surprised when I had the corn purée! I'm trying to figure out why more restaurants don't serve it this way but then again this place is pretty unique! ~Tuna Tartar with Avocado Pico and Sweet Potato Chips...again, not your typical Tuna Tartar. Seafood is my favorite food so this was my favorite dish. The tuna was amazingly fresh and the sweet potato fries were addicting! I had never had tuna tartar with sweet potato fries. What an amazing pairing of foods. Now you'd figure that with such impressive food that we would walk out of there broke. Another plus...the prices are very reasonable. For top service, atmosphere, and food...all at a reasonable price, Silver Trumpet is the place. I will be definitely be coming back A LOT!

My boyfriend and I went to the Silver Trumpet for Happy Hour after work on a Friday. I have to say I was impressed with the decor and the ambiance! This place definitely had some swagger-- great job on the design. This would be the perfect place for a date, or a great place to start the night out with the girls... The drinks were good and the food was fine but the standout was the Service. Jason, the manager, was extremely welcoming and he really went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and taken care of-- outstanding! The Bartenders were very attentive without being over the top, which I really appreciated. This is truly a hidden gem and we will be back!!

I'm going to edit or update this later, but as I sit here for a Mother's Day brunch, it is a must review immediately... Incredible brunch. Great selections. Good entertainment. Attentive staff. Who could ask for more? This recently changed owvnership and was renovated. I like what they did. The short and sweet of it? Worth the try. Am only giving it 4 stars for now because I don't usually like buffets. So full. Need a nap...

Service was good but I ordered a dish with chicken in it and the chicken tasted and felt rubbery. My friend ordered a dish which tasted better so maybe I will return and try something else.

I have been to this restaurant many times, but this last visit was very disappointing. We came for early dinner on Saturday after a matinee performance at Segerstrom Center. Our reservation was for 5 pm. We were among the first arrivals at the restaurant. We were seated and then waited & waited before our server greeted us. It appeared that the staff was not prepared for their 5 pm reservations. When we were given the menu, it was only a priced-fixed menu. Really now, on a Saturday evening you only offer this limited menu !! My guests were quite disappointed since they were looking forward to items that were on the regular menu which was posted outside the restaurant. We finally got some water, had to ask several times for some bread. Our waiter was very slow, not very helpful & not very attentive. It appeared that there have been many staff changes & they are still working out the kinks. Very disappointing dinner for both food & service. I will think twice before bringing guests again.

I love love love Silver Trumpet! Great ambiance, service, drinks, and food! I come in and take advantage of the daily happy hour they have from 4-7pm (then again for cocktails from 9:30-close). My friend and I discovered Silver Trumpet when we were staying at the hotel next to it (Wyndham) and we have been bringing friends here ever since. In fact, she's going to have her birthday dinner/party here and then just walk into the hotel after. Check this place out!

Dinner for two during Costa Mesa Restaurant week, again. Ok, we weren't TOO disappointed in this place last time, so we decided to give it another shot due to the limited number of participating restaurants. And, I'm somewhat glad we did. For starters we had Orange Blossom Glazed Quail and Goat Cheese Boucharin. The alternative to the prosaic little bird could've, and should've, been the flatbread starter but that just sounded boring. The boucharin, on the other hand, left me wanting more. Choose one from lamb, salmon or picanha and I'll definitely pick lamb if it's cooked just right. These lamb shanks were braised so we were safe, except for the HUGE portions. Generously sized shanks atop gorgonzola risotto had us dredging away wondering if all this gluttony was overrated. But even down to the last biteful, I was eager to try the desserts. I probably spoke too soon, though. The desserts sucked! Ginger peach tart for her, poached pear for me. I'm beginning to think that the chef has a secret romance with goat cheese because it was in our starter and both our desserts. I don't care, I like the stuff. All dessert selections included sherry and anise so they weren't your tradition sweet treats. I'm not a fan of anise so all we could say was "it was different." This is one of the better ones listed in CMRW. All in all, not a bad deal for a menu that dwarfed last year's portions, so I'll kick it up another star.

My husband and I love coming to brunch at Silver Trumpet. $10-15 breakfast and $10 bottomless Bloody Marys or mimosas pretty much can't be beat in this area. Plus, you can even switch between the two cocktails... Where else can you do that? It's even within walking distance from our apartment (3400) so that's definitely an advantage if you live nearby. Our weekend server, Bre, always makes sure our glasses are filled and always takes great care of us! :) Late night Happy Hour EVERY day 4-7pm and 9:30-close is awesome as well... $8 select cocktail and $2.50-5.00 munchies are great, even on a Friday or Saturday night!

I have been to this restaurant several times and it does not matter what I order, it surprises my taste buds with the most delicious favors I can image. Last night I took two family members that had never been here and everything they ate was scrumptious. We sat in the bar the whole time because the ambiance was relaxing and the music was nostalgic. Can't wait to go back.

Had omelette wiht goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms (and added bacon as extra). It was good but egg was a little overcooked and needed more goat cheese. Potatoes were crisp and spicy and it came with bowl of mixed fruit. Service was fine.

When passing through Costa Mesa, my wife and I usually make it a point to stop in to silver trumpets happy hour. The drinks and the food are always good, but more importantly the service is what continues to bring us back. All in all a good spot with great people.

My husband and I keep going back because the happy hour is good and cheap. The service is lackluster, and the managers would prefer to stand by the bar than help the servers with large sections. Hopefully they're just working out the links and service improves.

Petrale soul was horrible!! My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last night before going to Concert Hall across the street to see Russian Opera ( which was disappointing as well!). We appreciated the free parking with dinner and figured the restaurant would not be as crowded and crazy as something at south coast plaza - what with Black Friday madness and all. I am never happy when a simple glass of New Zealand Sauvingon Blanc fills only 1/4 of the wine glass.$9 for 4 ounces of wine is a rip off! The Caesar salad was different - pepitas and sun dried tomatoes made it not a classic Caesar, but I was fine with it. We both ordered the Petrale sole, with Risotto and a red bell pepper sauce. Petrale is suppose to be fresh, light, delicate, flaky, and hot!! Ours was cold, old, not fresh, over-cooked, tough- basically horrible. It did not look good and tasted worse. I think I had 2 bits - my friend only one. The waiter was nice - I thought he should have compted the" mea" - but he didn't offer - and we did not ask. We did not have time to have anything else - since we had a pre-talk and a concert to get to. So $20 for four ounces of wine and 1/2 a salad. Does nor leave a warm place in my heart. I have been here several times for brunch on the patio and enjoyed it - but anyone from the kitchen who thought they could get away with serving that fish ought to be fired.

Read my other reviews.. I tend to write great reviews, but I live next to this place, wanted to like it.. really wanted to like it.... but it was ABSOLUTELY THE WORST MEAL I HAD IN YEARS. First, drinks. I ordered directly from their menu. First I ordered the prosecco and was told they don't have it. I then ordered another sparkling white from their list, they didn't have that as well. I ordered a martini from the martini list... they said they couldn't make it.. (3 different drink requests, are you kidding me?) so I then ordered a pinot noir, FROM THEY'RE LIST AGAIN~! Didn't have it. So I then said "red"? Do you have anything red?? ... finally I got my drink ordered filled. I ordered the sliders and the wings. I took one bite of the sliders and nearly choked down the piece of meat into my napkin. I MEAN SERIOUSLY, when was the last time you had a slider that wasn't edible????? Leave it to this place... The slider was cooked on something that tasted like the oldest FISH in the entire sea.... GOD FORBID MY SLIDER TASTED THAT ROTTEN FROM FISH... I can only imagine what the fish must of tasted like. Moving forward, I got the beat salad with blue cheese... PLEASE REALIZE THERE WASN'T ONE ONCE OF BLUE CHEESE ON THE PLATE. Not one crumble, not one sauce, NOTHING. Ohh well, the beats by themselves were pretty tasty. The Wings.. were OK. I didn't vomit there and there wasn't anything missing from my plate but it was a basic dish... but isn't that true of sliders?? I had dessert.. GOT TO SAY THE DESSERT WAS REALLY GOOD. I'd go back for dessert if it weren't for the threat of food poisoning. WON'T EVER GO BACK.. NOT EVEN FOR A DRINK. They need to CANN EVERYONE WHO WORKS THERE and START FROM SCRATCH, or just burn the place down. I live within walking's distance from this place but I"ll walk the extra block to eat something edible from SCOTT's instead. Gross.. GROSS GROSS GROSS GROSS.

Made a reservation here before a show at Segerstrom Arts Center. It is the perfect spot to go to dinner before a show. The skirt steak was delicious and the bacon-wrapped dates were delicious as well. I would not recommend the crab cakes however. The service was adequate and the portions were just okay. The restaurant is located in a hotel so park in the hotel parking structure and make sure to get your ticket validated because then your parking is free for the entirety of the evening. If you happen to be going to a show at Segerstrom, just leave your car in their parking structure. The SAC is only a 5 minute walk away so save the money on having to pay for parking in the SAC structure and burn off those calories before the show!

Came here for a late night drink & dessert this past friday night (yes, that'd be Valentine's Day). This review is strictly for THE BAR ONLY. For starters, I just want commend Jason (the manager) and Patrick (the bartender) on their outstanding customer service (and bar tending) skills! A++++! The bar is super chic and has a lounge feel to it. Music was a bit varied, but I'd say it was mostly hip hop from the 90s era (the good stuff!). The bar area would also be great for dates or just getting together with friends. There's enough noise going on that it's not awkwardly quiet, but it's not so loud that you can't hear people talking. It was perfect for the night because I wanted to catch up with my friend. My girlfriend and I arrived at around 11pm. It wasn't packed, but it wasn't dead either. Since there weren't enough seats available at the bar, we sat at the couch. The manager told us that one of the cocktail waitresses would be by to take our order. Probably a good 10 -15 minutes went by and nothing. Not a good first impression. I went to the bar instead and stood to the side to wait for the bartender to become available so I could order drinks and dessert. The manager, Jason, noticed and asked whether we had been helped earlier and I told him no. He apologized and said the first round would be on the house. Talk about immediately remediating the problem! So we order our drinks and dessert (based on the dessert menu). Patrick, the bartender, comes back and tells us that because it's valentines day and their prix fixed menu, they weren't offering anything that wasn't on their mini menu (the late night menu, or something), which had zero desserts. I was super bummed because one of the main reasons I chose this place was to try one of their yummy desserts. Since I was apparently suffering from a massive sweet tooth that night, I politely asked Patrick if there was ANYTHING sweet or anything that the kitchen had served earlier for dessert that I could order. He said he would check. In the meantime, my friend and I ordered their ceviche. I know... weird combo! You'd think I was having prego cravings or something. I can assure you, I am not preggo! Since Patrick never said anything about whether any desserts existed, I just assumed he forgot. But then POOF! out he brings this magnificent chocolate thing with ice cream. I don't know what it was, but I suspect some sort of a molten chocolate cake w/ dried cranberries with some type of a gastrique and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. It was delightful and I was delighted! Next came our ceviche. I know, weird ordering of eating our food, but that's beside the point. So.... this ceviche wasn't bad per se. When I think ceviche, I primarily think of shrimp, or maybe even some sort of white fish, but mainly shrimp. Well, this ceviche had salmon. Cooked, kinda warm salmon. Not what I was expecting or craving. It just didn't hit the spot. Again, not bad per se, but just know your ceviche will not have shrimp but salmon instead. As for the drinks, I ordered the Headliner, which was similar to a mojito, but with blackberries, cucumber, and I think rosemary syrup or something. It was really tasty, and definitely something I'd be back for again! Throughout the night, Jason (the manager) and Patrick (bartender) were very attentive, making sure everything was going well and making sure we didn't need anything. At the end of the night, there was a bottle of champagne that management was opening and graciously offered all the guests a nice glass of bubbly. Last plus for the night: when Patrick brought us our bill, he advised us that he didn't charge us for the full price of our cocktail (discounting it significantly!) because we were so patient and just cool. yeahhhh!! Of course, as any patron should when discounts are offered, we made sure to tip patrick the full amount of what our bill would have been AND some, because he pulled some strings to get me my dessert :D All in all, I absolutely loved the establishment based on the customer service alone! Jason and Patrick were extremely gracious and welcoming to their guests. I will definitely be back! As a side note, the restaurant side looked very classy and sophisticated.

Terrible...presentation and delivery. I ordered the chicken blt and asked for it without the chicken, simple enough but the order came incomplete. I ordered the warm chocolate cake, later was called and informed they were out of that dessert and two separate people informed me of two different dessert menu's...ended up with a cheese cake that once delivered was stuck to the delivery dome...gross.

I never Yelp but I will for this place. My brother ate here and bought 2 drinks and a appetizer and ended up being charged 500.00. The server gave his 25 dollar tab to a large party and let them forge his signature and told him that someone picked up his tab and he is good to go. He thought it was strange so when he looked at his statement he saw why. Management is not taking any responsibility for this so they are now being investigated by the credit card company because he disputed it. You shouldn't eat here and give business to this place who treats their customers this way. So rude and unethical.

I have had 4 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners at the Silver Trumpet. Every dish was excellent, and the service was wonderful. Best granola in the world, wonderful squash blossoms (stuffed with ricotta and machego, delicately fried), excellent salmon, excellent cobria (my first taste of this halibut-iike fish: exquisitely tender and rich). The waiters are welcoming, attentive, and prompt. Best hotel restaurant I have ever experienced, and a fine restaurant in its own right.

Came here for Costa Mesa restaurant week with a friend. The food was good, though the ambiance was not what we expected. The restaurant is pretty classy, in the lobby of a hotel in the South Coast Plaza area. Attached to the restaurant is a nice bar/lounge area. Seems like a great place to bring a date.

Great salmon dish, unfortunately it had a piece of plastic in it. I told the bartender who in turn told the manager... The manager came out didn't apologize, just took the piece of plastic from me. Later in the evening the bartender brought me out a 2 for 1 drink ticket... I just wanted an aknowledgement of the issue....

Lunch with the Office folks for the second time, at this location. The first time i had the Ruben, and it was not bad at all. This time i went with the Avenue of the Arts Chopped Salad ~ 11, what a mistake. we had about 20 guests, all with a pre-ordered menu, so they knew what to expect and or prepare the day before. The service was terrible even with the four people provided. I waited over a half hour for a Avenue of the Arts Chopped Salad ~ 11, which had about a hand full of lettuce (Not CHOPPED SEASONED VEGETABLES) of which half was wilted, then 4 half's of cherry Tomatoes 2 small crumbs of blue cheese, 3 olives, the Chicken was tasty, that was the best part, Avocado had brown spots and was turned over so you could not see it when they served the dish. So after waiting over 30 min. for a Salad, with some of my co-workers in attendance, I did not want to spoil the over all mood nor express my displeasure with the my mis-givings experience. The funny thing, everyone else who ordered the same dish, had better portions with their serving. Just lucky I guess, however I will not return based on the poor service alone. I wonder if the people in charge there review these Yelp comments and take any steps to make changes for improvement.

We went here because we had a Travelzoo certificate. We dined on the patio overlooking a small lake. The bacon wrapped dates stuffed with chorizo were amazing. We both had the pepper-crusted filet, cooked to perfection and the herbed topping was delicious. For dessert we had the tiramisu cake, this was a little dry. We also got Salted Caramel pot de creme--a little too watery but very tasty. Fairly limited wine list. I think the $20 corkage fee is a little high. The place was very quite for a Fri evening. We were they around 7 pm and only saw about 6 tables of people the entire time we were there.

I like the atmosphere of this place, it feels European so much to me, especially music and design of the place. I never tried the food in there though, but it's great place to enjoy glass of wine in evening, especially outside. A friend of mine told me they also have good brunches, so, it's in my list of todo things for summer.

Went for their grand reopening a few weeks ago, and the new menu and decor really impressed me. Long gone are the days of slow service and average food. Their bar carries a good selection, including some craft beers and spirits not frequently seen around these parts. Their bar menu portrays a tapas feel to it, focusing on quality over quantity. The highlight was definitely their version of Surf & Turf, which was scallops with pulled pork. The use of these two meats plus their chimichurri sauce created perfect harmony of two otherwise antipode meats. Don't be fooled by the parking fee - the restaurant validates your parking, so you don't have to pay to park in their structure. A major step up from their former days - I will definitely return with more people soon.

Just tried the Silver Trumpet's Happy Hour this past Saturday and found the food, and service to be a good. The calamari, beef sliders, and tacos were tasty, and for $5.00 each quite the deal. Of course being prime dining time the entrees were a bit slow coming out, e.g. about 30 minutes. The server kept our drinks coming though. We will most likely return for the sliders, calamari, and want to try the corn cakes next time!

This place is nestled at the base of a fancy hotel. I arrived for a private party on Sunday night. The waiter is very pushy. I ordered the salmon, he kept pushing a salad so I caved and ordered a salad. This place is very expensive, as my entree and salad came to $34.00. My two lady friends wanted to split a salad and the salmon. He said okay but ended up bringing them out each a full salad and full entree. When they objected, he argued with them, and they haggled with him, and it ruined the fun of the evening. This poor attitude brought their score down. They may be higher class and snobby, but they don't know customer service. I think he was desperate for tips.

I slid in for a quick bite after a whole day in the dunes, and I'll tell ya what, I made the right choice with this place. Started things off with the oysters, woah toooo good, with that mignonette also, that's what I'm talkin about. After having a light chat with my waiter, I believe his name was Alex, I decided upon the roasted chicken, he explained what I should expect in the dish quite well, and not long after he took my order and left me to my white russian, my dinner was presented before my eyes. Well, the chicken didn't last long, I made sure of that. I will absolutely return, and hopefully Alex will be there too serve me another fantastic meal. That dinner was all the way live baby.

We had dinner here last night with friends. We started with Crab Cake and Corn Cake Appetizers followed by a Main Course of Lamb Chops with Couscous and Spinach, Salmon and Beef Medallions. We added a side of locally grown Vegetables, a bottle of very nice Merlot and Dessert. All of the dishes were delicious. Service was excellent, attentive but not hurried. I highly recommend eating on the patio which was very comfortable. A coupon is available through Travelzoo for $55.00 per person which is a real good deal. Includes 2 Appetizers, Wine, Main and Dessert.

I must admit, I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews. I got the feeling that the restaurant was new, had a few kinks to work out, but that they were now putting their best foot forward. I was correct, I'm thrilled to report! From the moment we stepped in until we drove away, we received stellar service. The hostess who greeted me was polite and accommodating; the bartenders were attentive; Jason (the manager) was, in a word, awesome. Truly. He took care of our parking validation before we even needed to ask about it, offered us a fantastic tequila based cocktail that was not on the formal list (it's as yet unnamed, but might be called the "Agavetini," we were told), and was informative, engaging and humorous. He asked our opinions of certain drinks and dishes, which gave me the impression that he actually cares what his customers desire and enjoy. How refreshing! I'm very happy we discovered this restaurant, and know we'll be back for their great Happy Hour (until 7pm; nice!), delicious food and lovely ambiance. I am a season ticket holder at the nearby South Coast Repertory, and I know this will be my next pre-theater stop. I want to add that I had not heard of Silver Trumpet before I received a Travelzoo offer for dinner there. I want the restaurant to know that a lot of interest is generated by the half-priced offer, and while it may draw some less interested and lower-tipping clientele, your food and service are great! To anyone reading: tip on the value of your meal, not the discounted price!!!

Had breakfast there with my family. Not being the overly adventurous type, we all got the All American breakfast. But we also got a side of granola and an order of pancakes. Everything was fantastic, the bacon was nice and crispy, the pancakes came with fruit and real maple syrup, and everything tasted fresh. As a bonus, the coffee was genuine Starbucks. A little on the pricey side, but overall a good dining experience.

While the ambience and décor are elegant, sadly the food does not measure up. We had dinner before a show at the Segerstrom on Saturday night. The beet salad was good and martinis average. I ordered the chicken, it was dry, tasteless and the succotash it was served over tasted like canned corn. My friend ordered the filet mignon bites which were good but too spicy. Our server was a bit condescending when we asked about the happy hour drinks....he gleefully told us that only applies if you sit in the bar area, which we probably should have done as we felt our dinner was rushed as if they wanted our table for other guests. Once the dining area filled up, the noise level was unbearable so we couldn't wait to leave. It's sad that a beautiful restaurant can't serve more tasteful food with a more creative menu.

Eight of us went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. I was excited to try the Silver Trumpet since they are walking distance from my office. The atmosphere: good location and nice interior (although our first table was wobbly so they had to move us). The food: Mediocre at best. The basket of bread was dry -- as described by other Yelpers. I then had the French Dip. The roll was nice, but the meat was clearly processed -- if not, it surely tasted like it was. Rubbery and flavorless. I would have rather ate at Arbys. It also came with "Crispy Potato" - which I can only describe as the leftover shake at the bottom of a bag of potato chips. I almost laughed when it arrived. Others at my table were disappointed with their meals. The birthday girl ordered a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp -- instead it came out with chilled shrimp. When she said something, they simply put the chilled shrimp on the grill. They looked so shriveled -- probably because they had been cooked twice. The dessert: Apparently recognizing that we were unhappy with our meals, the waiter came over to ask if we would be interested in some desserts that the chef had prepared for us. It took him about three tries to finally say that they were offering us some free dessert. He then brought out: cheesecake (decent), lemon bars (so-so), Butterscotch Pot de Crème (interesting), and the Hedgehog. The Hedgehog looked great and tasted pretty good to. The service: It was slow and below average. Given that there were only 4-5 parties in the entire restaurant, you would figure that we would be treated like honored guests, but instead they were barely present to serve us. Given that one of the individuals in our group ordered the "Quickie", I think instead she must have received the "Slowie". Doubt I will ever be back. If they had not comped all the desserts, I would have used the Yelp Check-In Offer of 10% off, but did not think it would have been in good taste to use it.

My family and I enjoyed Chef Carlos' dinner tonight before catching "Wicked" across the street at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. To start I had the Modern Caesar Salad. The lettuce was crisp and fresh and the dressing was PERFECT. For my entree I ordered the Meyer Lemon-Honey Glazed Salmon which was equally delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection and was so flavorful. For dessert we shared a generous slice of the Chocolate Blackout cake. It was heaven! If you love chocolate this is the dessert for you, it has layers of chocolate mousse with almond and hazelnuts. So delicious! I highly recommend having dinner here, especially if you are in the area, its perfect after a day of shopping at south coast plaza or before/after a show. Also all of the employees I came in contact with were beyond helpful and genuinely nice. The Silver Trumpet is an Orange County Dining MUST!

The Mrs. joined a co-worker and I for lunch at Silver Trumpet today, and the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is because we only tried the lunch menu, and the $4 iced tea. If the dinner is anywhere near as good as the lunch, I'll be updating my rating. Simply said, today's lunch was fantastic, from attentive service to excellent food, in a setting that was fine dining, accompanied by very good prices. We had the chopped salad, pastrami Reuben and "The Quickie" as well as a glass of iced tea. My one complaint is the $4 iced tea. Yes, it was refilled constantly, but it is still $4 for iced tea. Brings to mind Vincent Vega's incredulity about the $5 shake in Pulp Fiction, except this was just plain iced tea, not some great milk shake, and it was only $1 less. Needless to say, it was an unpleasant surprise on the check (we ordered drinks before we got the menu). But I digress. Back to the positives. First, the pastrami Reuben. $10, and a great deal. It was completely legit - thick, succulent slices of pastrami, tangy sauerkraut, excellent bread and a huge pile of house made potato chips. They also did not skimp on the pickles. Overall, an excellent sandwich - and we have had literally dozens of crappy pastrami sandwiches - so this was a pleasant surprise! The house made chips were very well seasoned, lightly salted, crisp and delicious. Next, the chopped salad. My co-worker asked for balsamic instead of the creamy dressing, no problem. It came as a large, generous pile of greens with all the promised goodies - all for $11. MUCH better than just about every chain restaurant salad that has too much iceberg and costs too much. Finally, my meal - The Quickie. This is a half chicken BLT, small portion of Caesar salad, and cup of the soup of the day. It is $16, a bit pricey, but it was very good. Due to the price, I won't order it again, but the presentation and superb food quality and taste really impressed me. The soup was sweet potato and crispy pancetta, and was truly one of the best restaurant soups I have had in a while. Clean, distinct flavors, not salty, great texture and consistency. The chicken BLT was redolent of sun-dried tomatoes, and full of flavor. The bread was toasted, which made it a little crispy, but was a great country wheat style that contributed to the taste profile of the sandwich. It was very good. The bread in the bread basket was fresh sourdough - not dry or hard at all. I was really pleased with our whole experience and look forward to trying the French dip and other menu items.

Came here with the OC Wine Elite and had ourselves a private room at the back of the restaurant. We started off with a plain dandelion green salad, which IMO had a weird, citrus-y aftertaste to it. It threw me off a little, but the rest of the meal quickly redeemed itself. As I was still from my lunch at the Lazy Dog Cafe earlier in the day, I opted for their salmon, which was also served with a risotto. I almost died - the salmon was that freakin' good. It was seasoned to perfection and so tender that it fell apart as soon as my fork approached within 2 centimeters of it. Haha, not really, but still... Dessert? Probably the best tiramasu that I've had in a long, looooooooooooooooooong time. Will definitely be back, but I think most likely only with the OC Wine Elite.

Love the décor, the chandeliers, and the Eames chairs and furniture in the lobby. had lunch here with a group before a performance at the Segerstrom Hall. very nice lunch! the service was attentive, professional, courteous, for which I commend the entire staff. for some reason, a lot of silverware was being dropped that day, twice by staff and about four times by our lunch crowd. we had a laugh over that. we kept waiting for a flash mob to suddenly appear a la the USAF military band at the National space museum playing Christmas carols, but no such luck. we thought of starting a flash mob ourselves but were too busy eating for that .My salmon plate was delicious; thanks for a great dining experience.

Man, do I have a lot to say about this place. I came here after buying the Travelzoo voucher online. My friend recommended this place for me, and after looking at pictures of this place and reading reviews on Yelp, I was very excited to come here. I chose this place for my boyfriend's 24th birthday and thought it'd be special and perfect. To get straight to the restaurant experience, the decor outside and inside seemed very nice and pleasant. After looking at the menu and prices online, I expected a really high-class, fine dining experience. There were probably around 4 tables filled up in the entire restaurant, but it still took them about 10 minutes to seat us (we had reservations). When we were seated, the hostess kindly put the napkin on my lap, lit a candle for me and my boyfriend, and told us our server would be out shortly. We waited around 5 minutes for the guy, and when he approached us, we didn't even KNOW he was our server because he didn't introduce himself as such. We thought he was another person who was filling our cup or bringing our bread. The starter bread here is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. It was rock hard, lukewarm, dry, and unflavorful. I still ended up eating 3 of the 4 slices though, because everything was taking so long. Our server (his name was Ben, but we only remembered because the hostess said that would be our server. Like I said, he didn't introduce himself) suggested the Apple Ginger Sangria for drinks so my boyfriend and I took it. That took about 10 minutes to come out. After the guy brought us our drinks, we still had to wait another 15 minutes for our appetizer orders to be taken. The sangria was really bad, by the way. It was much too alcohol-y (like vodka), and not at all sangria-y. I wish we had just gotten a soda or wine or something. Man, do I regret that. My bf only took 2 sips and didn't touch it during the whole meal. I had about a quarter of the glass, just because I thought it would be a waste of money. So we finally got to order our appetizers and entrees. My boyfriend chose the chicken noodle soup because he was feeling a bit sick, and I chose the quail. For entrees, the bf chose the Flat Iron Steak and I chose the Halibut. Our appetizers came out in okay time, and it seemed all fancy shmancy, but my bf's soup was lukewarm! My quail was delicious though, but the pasta that was served underneath was also lukewarm. I started to see a theme, here. We waited for what seemed like FOREVER (30 minutes+?) for our entrees. We were getting so impatient and it was a horrible wait. Our entrees were tiny, but like my boyfriend said, these types of places are "quality over quantity." Sadly, for Silver Trumpet, neither apply. My halibut was very very very dry, but nicely seasoned. The accompanying veggies were good, but overly buttered/oiled. My bf's steak was SO chewy, it took him a few minutes to chew each bite. Wow. After our entrees, we waited another 10-15 minutes just to get our dessert menus. When we did, we didn't waste any time to order. My bf ordered the ice cream (apparently house-churned, coming with 3 small scoops) and I got the caramelized banana and chocolate tart. Ben, our server, said these were such good choices because they are the most popular within the 2 weeks this place has been opened after remodeling. I was so excited. I swear to God, we waited another 15 minutes for our DAMN desserts. I mean, really? Scooping ice cream takes 15 minutes? Putting a tart on a plate takes 15 minutes? Good God. They move at SNAIL'S PACE HERE. So much so that when we got our ice cream, the scoops were in pools of mixed together melted ice cream. I immediately dug in and CRINGED. I am a choco-holic. I am not picky. By any means. But this tart was somethin' else. The chocolate didn't taste chocolate-y, but sour. The bananas were even overly ripe. And the ICE CREAM. My bf took 3 bites and he was done. It was SO BAD. The peanut butter ice cream had the weirdest slushy texture. The vanilla bean was WAY too thick and off. For 15-30 dollars per entree, this place is a f***ing joke and I am so pissed off that I had to waste my money and my boyfriend's birthday time on this place. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I am NOT a picky person. I swear. Read my other reviews. I am a very generous reviewer. But this place is just one of the worst restaurants I've ever been too. The server was slow, impersonal, inattentive, and awkward. The food was horrible except for the veggies and the quail (SIGH.). The drinks were gross. The prices are WAY too high. Never will be back here ever again. And by the way, I think all the 5-star "reviews" on this Yelp page were written by owners/workers of this restaurant after their remodeling. They all sound the same, all written around the same time spans, and not at all consistent with what I actually experienced here at this joke of a restaurant. WHAT A FLUKE THIS PLACE IS. DON'T GO HERE, PEOPLE. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

We also got the Travelzoo voucher (a good deal in name, $69 for two appetizers, entrees, desserts and signature cocktails.) The decor is really nice, we dug the vibe. Great jazz music, nice looking place. The staff was fantastic- very friendly maitre'd and waiter. They both took lots of time to chat with us (not too difficult as we were literally the only two people in the place.) Based on service/atmosphere alone, we'd give this place at least 4 stars. For a restaurant attached to a hotel, it's very nice. However.... the food just didn't pass muster. Bread- nice soft date bread (tasted a lot like raisin bread, we went through two baskets.) Appetizers: the ravioli was good (a nice sweet taste to it), but the mozzarella was overly peppery and too "wet". Not a very good taste or texture. It needs something bread-y to go with it (actual bread, bruschetta, cracker, etc.) Wife had the short rib (she liked it, but the seasoning was way too much. I thought it tasted kind of like dill, but apparently it's lots of citrus and other flavors. But really overwhelming.) I had the pork chop and thought it was tasty. However, if I were paying full price ($31) I would have thought it a rip-off. It was good but nowhere close to "orgasmically great." Dessert: wife had the banana/caramel/chocolate tart, which was a bit too crunchy and not that great. I had the fruit cobbler, which was good but ALL of the fruit inside was really, really tart- I mean like super tart. The signature drink served to us was sangria, which was ok. I prefer mine sweeter (it did come with a ton of fruit but wasn't very sweet. Some purists say that's better. Just a matter of taste.) Overall- we REALLY wanted to like this restaurant. We loved the decor, vibe and service. (However- even on a night where we were the only 2 people inside, the entire meal took 2 hours. That's at least comforting that the food is really being prepared just for us, but it was a bit long.) But a lot of the food was ok at best, and a bit disappointing at worst. If you took the Travelzoo discount away, we both would have been supremely pissed, because the prices are insanely high for the quality. I doubt we would come back but that's too bad as we thought it had a lot going for it (location, vibe, etc.) Improve the food. :)

I didn't enjoy this restaurant very much. The ambiance is nice and the service is not bad, though it was like pulling teeth to get bread. Other than one of the appetizers with the squash blossoms, the entrees were really mediocre. The menu seems schizophrenic and odd. My friends both got the mac and cheese and there was no cheese flavor! Just the béchamel. Not a foodie place at all. Not worth the money. Will not be returning.

Went here for Costa Mesa's Restaurant week menu. Hidden under the Wyndham Hotel thats undergoing some renovations, it was what you'd imagine a hotel restaurant to be like--with an added layer of, silver trumpets. ROASTED CHICKEN CONSOMME (Truffle Quail Egg, Marinated Leeks and Potatoes) - Tasted like a light chicken pho broth. Simple light starter for the non-seafood lover like myself to enjoy. GRILLED FILET (Paso Prime Grass fed Beef, Roasted Shallots, Twice Baked Potatoes, Cabernet Sauce) - Ordered medium rare, but it turned out to be more of a medium. Nevertheless, it tasted pretty good. Well seasoned piece of beef. Would I come back? If there wasn't so many other awesome places to eat nearby, sure. Service was good and the servers were friendly.

Five of us had dinner there last night. Two people order prime rib, and I have never seen prime rib served so overdone. The other dinners were OK but "average." The crab cake appetizers were excellent.

Whilst the adjoining hotel has more of a claim to modernist luxury the Silver Trumpet tries but fails miserably to live up to a four star hotel standard. The croissants were stale, the coffee bitter and most unforgivably the strawberrys touched with brown. At $13 for a partial continental buffet it's not cheap either. The service and decor are good but the product itself poor.

Stopped in for OC Beer Week prix fixe lunch. What an incredible meal. The menu was $18. It started with beer cheese soup, which was the best beer cheese soup I've ever had in my life. The fish was halibut and delicately breaded...not greasy at all. The sauce on top was divine. The beer pairings were also excellent. Wish they had this menu all the time! Service was a tad slow.

Came here for Costa Mesa Restaurant Week, last week. Never heard of this place until we saw the restaurants participating in this event. So glad they did! Started with the LOBSTER POT AU FE. It has nice size lobster piece in a kind of thick broth. Delicious. 2nd Dish- Vegetable Cannelloni's. It consisted of Roasted Peppers, Eggplant, Mushrooms, and Squash. There was no pasta in this dish. The cannelloni's were actually squash on the outside and then filled with either peppers, mushrooms or tomatoes. Perfect vegetarian dish, if I were vegetarian but I loved it nonetheless. Dessert- ended it with the chocolate souffle. Super rich chocolatey dessert. A little too rich for me but still good. I do want to come back and try their regular menu and see what they have to offer. This could be a great hidden gem in Costa Mesa.

the food seems to be o.k. Though the prices are too much for a restaurant attached to a hotel. The wait staff for the most part are very nice but it is obvious they are understaffed. That results in errors with the order and barely warm food. Ordered the oatmeal for breakfast to-go. Big lump of oatmeal in a box without ANYTHING else. No sugar, fruit, nothing. Dinner was salmon which was pasty, veggies a mix of over and undercooked. I recommend the walk to any different restaurant nearby.
